But I wish them all the best with this:

The campaign for fan ownership of Newcastle United.

After months of discussions with interested parties, Newcastle United Supporters Trust (NUST) is launching the Yes We Can Campaign which aims to raise funds to lead a fans buy out at St James' Park. The Trust will be revealing partners over the coming days, and has in place a buy out structure led by local firms and renowned names in the financial world. The Trust is mailing out to over 40,000 supporters to ask them if and how they want to buy into the campaign to lead a city-wide bid to buy back the club.

Good luck to you all, I sincerely hope you can manage what we didn't

Report brendanuk1 • November 11, 2009 12:16 PM GMT
yes good luck with this.

Care to elaborate Surrey?
Report Surrey • November 11, 2009 12:26 PM GMT
United fans cried off and set up another club. Turned your back on your club.
Report Official BAWDEEPS Spokesman • November 11, 2009 12:30 PM GMT
Utter rubbish, I'd say pretty much everyone at FCUM is still a MUFC fan, however most refuse to financially contribute to the Glazer's ownership of the club. FCUM also means that lads and dads can go to the match together again, it has brought affordable football back to many who thought it had gone forever, to people with a strong affinity to MUFC who couldn't go and just watch any other team, but will watch FCUM with like minded supporters.

FCUM is a protest against Glazer, but it's much more than that, it's football for the fans, by the fans, the club is fan owned and fan run, it makes all the difference which is why I sincerely hope that NUST achieves its aims

I like Non-League football. Support Merstham in Ryman 1. But I am Arsenal first and foremost.
Report Surrey • November 11, 2009 12:33 PM GMT
Why not go down to Bury?
Report Official BAWDEEPS Spokesman • November 11, 2009 12:38 PM GMT
Why would I want to support Bury or any other league or non-league side when I have absolutely no affinity with them?
Report Surrey • November 11, 2009 12:39 PM GMT
United your local team?
Report Official BAWDEEPS Spokesman • November 11, 2009 12:41 PM GMT
Indeed
Report Surrey • November 11, 2009 12:42 PM GMT
City? lol

Fair enough must be tough. I think they got a bit dramatic over having a different owner. And a few people wanted to cash in on United and make themselves important.
Report brendanuk1 • November 11, 2009 12:47 PM GMT
thread hijack complete!
Report Official BAWDEEPS Spokesman • November 11, 2009 12:47 PM GMT
Wouldn't say over dramatic, we've gone from being probably the most financially sound club in the World to a selling club with massive debts to finance - if anyone thinks United would reject £100m for Rooney they're wrong (although I think Rooney would want to stay)
Report Surrey • November 11, 2009 12:48 PM GMT
Back on topic Ashley wont sell or do NUST any favours.
Report Can't Catch Me • November 11, 2009 12:48 PM GMT
ODS... genuine question. If the Glazer's sold to someone the anti-Glazer fans approved of, would those fans want to go back to watching Utd?
Report Surrey • November 11, 2009 12:48 PM GMT
You think I should be worried about Kroenke or usmanov?
Report Official BAWDEEPS Spokesman • November 11, 2009 12:50 PM GMT
I think some would do but for the majority Glazer was just the last straw after everything else - prices, atmosphere, regulations etc, personally I'd go back for the odd game, but only if it didn't clash with FC
Report Can't Catch Me • November 11, 2009 12:52 PM GMT
Thats what I thought. It was a cumulation of things and the way footy has gone in general. What kind of crowds are they getting at the min?
Report Official BAWDEEPS Spokesman • November 11, 2009 12:53 PM GMT
Surrey - most definitely - none of these people, Usmanov, Abramovic, Glazers, Learner, Hick, Gillette, are in it for the good of their health, they are in it for the money in the long run.

Only maybe Sheikh Mansour at city could be argued to not be in it for the cash, it's a toy for him, not a money making vehicle
Report Surrey • November 11, 2009 12:54 PM GMT
No what you mean about atmosphere. Emirates usually poor but was rocking against SPurs. I prefer away games, especially in Europe.

You must miss the European Cup finals and away trips.
Report maverick • November 11, 2009 12:55 PM GMT
that's even worse. toys fall out of favour quickly. at least the others care about the money they've got tied up
Report toon4eva • November 11, 2009 1:09 PM GMT
i love newcastle as much as anyone but will not go back while ashley is there that does not mean i am not a fan. if anything its the 40 odd thousand that still go giving him money that are keeping him interested. if he wasnt making money playing to empty grounds he would go.
Report mtoto2 • November 11, 2009 1:17 PM GMT
the club would also be in administration. its not as easy as that. the 40k + you refer to are not paying on just a match by match basis , some have paid 3 years in advance so he has already banked that money so doesn't give a monkeys whether they boycoutt or not.
Report toon4eva • November 11, 2009 1:39 PM GMT
ive got friends that have paid for 3 year and wont go back its everything that goes with it beer, programmes etc. to sit in the ground and moan about wanting him out while giving him money every week is madness imo
Report mtoto2 • November 11, 2009 1:48 PM GMT
i buy nothing from ground. just have a season ticket.
Report wallboy • November 11, 2009 1:51 PM GMT
liverpool fans have been buying their club for a couple of years now, how's that going on,any lessons to be learnt?
Report toon4eva • November 11, 2009 1:56 PM GMT
fair enough mate respect to you but plenty others do.
Report maverick • November 11, 2009 1:59 PM GMT

Report mtoto2 • November 11, 2009 2:01 PM GMT
