Does anyone honestly believe that refs deliberately favour or pick on certain teams? I'm sure they do the job to the best of their abilities all the time, they just don't have much ability mostly.

Fergie's def ballsed up big time on this one .... Constantly moaning that their defeats are down to biased refereeing ( particularly when the popular view is that they've historically been given more than their fair share of borderline decisions ) has alienated him and the club from the officials , authorities and neutral fans
Everyone can see that their squad is weaker now than for several years and Fergie's making himself look pretty foolish with his undignified rants . Just reeks of a club in decline and a quietly panicking manager with no answers

Think the F.A have bottled not charging Fergie again for yesterday's defeat. Some of the reports are saying it's because he didn't suggest there was any bias or doubting the ref's integrity in what he said, but they know that with a possible ban already looming, any further charge would mean he would be banned for so long that he'd probably look at legally challenging them.
They have also bottled it by not charging Rooney, if the reasons for not charging fergie are correct. Rooney has been warned about his future conduct for mouthing the words "Twelfth man" at the camera in reference to the ref. Well if that isn't doubting his integrity or suggesting bias against United, i don't know what is

Prince Buster do you think the refereeing team got any of these decisions right yesterday:
1. Elbow into Valencias head by Terry 2. Terry's jersey pull on Valencia in Chelsea 3. Rooney called offside when clearly onside first half 4. Fletcher tackle on diving Cole? 5. Drogbas pull on Brown in the box. 6. Drogba standing offside in front of VdS
:-)

Utd will not be +7 points with refs this season, they have wised up to Fergies pressure, why is it taking the FA so long to ban him after the Wiley outburst that spectacularly backfired ? Utd were more defensive than Liverpool yesterday. And about time the FA charged them with failing to control their players as other well known clubs have been ;) .

CD8 ... it was such a boring game I turned over after 30 minutes so I can't comment on all those incidents . The thread isn't about yesterday's reffing decisions though - it's about what the effect has been of Fergie's earlier rant at Riley , his rants about ref's fitness levels in general , plus his frequent moaning sessions since then . He's without a doubt the most successful manager in recent history but I don't think his current tactic of whingeing and implying that officials have it in for his team are working . Just comes across as paranoia and avoidance of the main issues he has with a very much weaker squad than in previous years

1] jumped with his arm in the air, you see challenges like this in every match, when there's contact the ref has a decision to make, wasn't malicious imo, sometimes the refs over-react to this sort of challenge . free kick imo
2] once again you see this in every game terry, vidic, carragher, upson, all of them do it. sometimes they're given, more often not.
3] again, an everyday of the week occurence, it's been scientifically proved that it's impossible to give a correct call with the naked eye. linesmen in this situation are guessing at best. in that sort of situation a linesman often gets "triggered to raise his flag when he's getting calls from the back4 and the crowd.
4] all i can say about this one is that in real time at the ground it .looked a foul what i've read and heard today it seems a lot of people made it a 50/50 call.
5] once again the pushing and shoving in the box goes on at every set piece, there were three or four earlier ones wher chelsae players got pushed or held in a more vigourous manner. it seems to me that refs are now letting a lot of this go, and as been well chronicled the ref wasn't exactly in the best position to come to a conclusion.
6] apparently drogba was not offside as he level with brown.
i can see why utd fans have got the 'ump that these decisions went against them [i would to if the situation was reversed], but they were all marginal calls. which brings me back to the original question.
if fergie hadn't have gone out of his way to upset the refereeing fraternity do we think that maybe united may have got one ot two of them their way.?

sintonian 09 Nov 16:52 It's about time the Refs grew some nuts, to be fair.
if that was the case there would have been at least three debatable decisions that wouldnt have let chelsea score..
mexicano it wasnt that terry got away with elbowing valencia.. more the point that he went down holding his own face like he had hit him with his head...
and the other decisions.. yoru right, most happen every week.. but if drogba fouled brown to the floor (and your not saying he didnt) then the only reason they were even remotely level, was that brown was lying down because he was fouled...

why dont ppl (especially untied fans) admit that when their team is at home, especially the so called big 4... they get the decisions.. simple as that.. and get over it.

Dont forget the most scandalous one the Fletchers attack on the Drog ,ABH as well on his form now and how Fletcher doesnt get sent off for continued dissent and fouling is baffling.

Mex even if all of those situations were 50/50 decisions (which I dont agree with for some of them), - everyone of them went in Chelsea's favour. Thats hardly fair is it? So I think we're justified to feel aggrieved

This is one of the few threads were mex is making any sense. You are missing his point.
Had fergus not offended the 'refs' then would we be getting more of these 50-50's
Every ref is human (nap), most are bad (nb)

The thing is mex knowing fergie he will use this to our advantage by creating the old siege mentality them against us. he came out saying the players were talking in the dressing room as if they no longer believe in referees....he knows what he's doing.
Always going to be difficult to retain the hunger to retain a title on the back of 1 or 2 wins but 3??? Fergie knows. wily (nap)
