Can someone post the link, please?

Indeed Clockwork - he was very quick to jump all over the West Ham player last week but apparently the only thing wrong with the**penalty decision was that Gomes wasn't sent off !.

He suffers from what every other manager, player and supporter is afflicted with, "selective vision".
Report TiredandWeary • November 8, 2009 11:18 AM GMT
can't believe hansen and shearer thought it was a pen.blatant dive.
Report Clockwork • November 8, 2009 11:23 AM GMT
He got that wrong as well, TD- he was going nowhere, plus he would have tripped over the ball anyway.

Wish he would take that glass pane away from his face

if**hadnt jumped gomes would have took him out. Foolish goalkeeping rather than diving I would say.**beat him to the ball.

blatant dive
Report Clockwork • November 8, 2009 11:34 AM GMT
Jumped? His body was at an angle of 45 degrees when Gomes finally got to him! :D
Report haran1888 • November 8, 2009 11:34 AM GMT
He beat Gomes to the ball. Gomes took a chance and it failed. If**hadnt jumped you clearly see in the replay Gomes would have caught him with his arm.
Report mtoto2 • November 8, 2009 11:37 AM GMT
already going to ground way before any contact. it was a dive but made it into a penalty . glad it was giving imo.
Report King Cally • November 8, 2009 11:38 AM GMT
if..................... would have.............

whats that got to do with anything.**dived, at the moment of contact he was in no position to go and get the ball.
Report mtoto2 • November 8, 2009 11:39 AM GMT
100% no red card. going away from goal. two players back towards line. one in 1st half was more of a penalty.

See this is where i'm really struggling as lots of pundits have agreed that it was a clear penalty,as the poster above has pointed out,he would have caught**had**not dived.

But**did dive and was virtually horizontal when any contact with Gomes (Bents foot into Gomes chest) was made.

If this is how we now judge a foul isn't it possible that a player could stand 6 foot away from another player and throw a punch at him - and get a straight red because if his arm had been longer he would have hit him ?.
Report the bloob • November 8, 2009 12:18 PM GMT
it was the same sort of thing for the penalty Rooney won against Arsenal, player already going down before contact was made, refs fall for it every time
Report CailiniDeas8 • November 8, 2009 12:21 PM GMT
Dive.

Really dont understand why goalies come tearing out in situations like that. Setting themselves up for a pen/red card decision. James is one of the worst
Report chunkyuk1 • November 8, 2009 12:22 PM GMT
funny this when Rooney (saviour of England and red nses favourite son) did the same thing it was a def pen

Selective sight some people on here

Steptoes Yard lol.
Its very transparent what you are trying to say.
Report haran1888 • November 8, 2009 12:28 PM GMT
How many times has a player jumped just before been tackled to avoid serious damage.

Gomes illegally intercepted**s path once**had beaten him to the ball.

**has 2 options, either get sweeped by Gomes arm and risk injury (he was running at a fast pace). Or he could jump over Gomes.

Gomes was beaten to the ball.**did make it over the top but when a goalie commits to a tackle like that and is beaten then its a penalty.
Report mtoto2 • November 8, 2009 12:31 PM GMT
if you compare it to alan smiths "challenge" on ian bennett on monday then gomes should be on an assault charge :^0
Report top div • November 8, 2009 12:33 PM GMT
Personally i think**has to be actually swept off his feet by the keeper for it to be a foul.

I know everyone does it and i understand what you say but the term 'foul' describes illegal contact on a player to my mind.

When**was 'fouled' he actually hadn't had any contact with Gomes, that happened later when**was horizontal.
Report haran1888 • November 8, 2009 12:35 PM GMT
fair enough top div

Think it is just down to what the ref sees. Ref was behind the play for the**tackle.

Some refs would give it some wouldnt
Report Xest • November 8, 2009 12:35 PM GMT
facking disgrace saying gomez should had been sent off,**should had been booked for diving
Report mtoto2 • November 8, 2009 12:37 PM GMT
so by that reasoning to the above poster after defoe kicks gordons arm should he have went down and a penalty awarded :0
Report CailiniDeas8 • November 8, 2009 12:40 PM GMT
chunky Rooneys was completely different to be fair.
