One of the derbies of Serie B 13th round is played on Friday night and it draws a lot of attention. Actually, some predictions saw these teams as contenders for the top positions before the season started. However, Empoli were seen in the play-offs, as they kept the most of their team, while Reggina got relegated from Serie A after eight years and faced problems immediately. Together with Torino they were number one favourites for the express return, but things didn't kick off well, so as it usually happens the coach paid for it and Novellino got sacked.
Empoli are pretty good at home
Unlike last season they showed decent performance at their Castellani. They sold the best players, Pozzi and Lodi, as two years after relegation, Corsi simply didnt have the money to keep them and the mentioned players didnt have enough motivation. But he has a good team at his disposal with several players who have Serie A experience, which definitely helps. Empoli are in the top part of the standings and sixth place is not far, while they won most of the points at home. Actually, before drawing with Triestina, Empoli managed to win teams like Acoli, Cittadella, Crotone and Frosinone. These are not big names, but they are all tough teams that got off toa good start.
Reggina have the new coach
Ivo Iaconi worked in Ascoli and got a chance after a poor run of results. Reggina have only 12 points, they are closer to the bottom and they will have to win in series if they plan to fight for the play-offs. The good thing is that the season is long, president Fotti announced reinforcement but he said that last winter too when Reggina got relegated from Serie A. The team's roster is not bad, few Serie A players stayed in the team, but this league holds completely different standards and Reggina felt that right away. Last week they managed to end the negative run last week, by winning Salernitana.
Betting verdict
In the last away game in Lecce, Reggina lost in the last few minutes, but it seems they are playing better. We think that they could reach a point and the hosts will hardly manage to break the visitors that in spite of their current situation posses certain quality. We think that the draw is the most logical outcome and both teams would settle for a point.
