I have a couple of very quick systems and they are top speed, but every so often with holdem , especially on the river I notice a delay and it throws up a 39/1 shot or thereabouts. It seems to check who needs what and produces uncanny results.

I think you are being paranoid. If a modern computer was calculating where the money was and what card to produce in order to maximise profit, it could do that millions of times before you could blink. I hae no idea why there is a delay, however i have noticed it at times.
It's your computer delaying, while betfair rakes the cash off you. Believe it or not
