On the broadcast The Racing Room , AK said that he priced up for a cover of a large bonus offered if A dog won English , Irish and Scottish Derby finals . Without watching it again I believe he said that " ultra conservatively" he proposed 200/1 .
The price eventually offered was 9/2 .
I might be wrong but I think AK priced up for a Treble when , in actual fact , it is a Double .


L'Eau Du Sud , take a good look at his form before backing him . His form took another knock when Tedley finished out of the frame in The Greatwood . From all the horses that have finished behind him in chases there have been 3 winners , one of which was at Dundalk . Petit Tonnere won off of a low rating and Soul Icon won on 143 but that race looks to be a non event with hindsight . I would expect the Skelton horse to drift .EDIT : I missed Rubaud who was very game when making hard work of winning The Pendil .

The favourite has not run since 2nd November while the Crisford mare is hard race fit . The 1/3 looks far too short .
Both have high figures from strange races but go to their other figures and the difference is still 2lb or 2 lengths .

I have rated the Gold Cup as if the result was kosher . That means the winner gets the highest rating I have had for the last 50+ years . A court case is not a good idea for a coffin dodger so think of the result as a fluke .

Lays : Iroko , poorly weighted and whatever he finds there are others above him that could find also .
      I Am Maximus , a sloppy jumper who might remember how easy the obstacles are , that could see him taking one Liberty too many .
      Hewick , poorly weighted and ground dependent . His best form does not stand the test of time .
Short list : Intense Raffles , Vanillier and Hyland even though he needs good ground . For an outsider what about Royal Pagaille ? If a deluge arrived he could come into the reckoning and imagine what the Sunday rags could make of that story !

I backed Hyland early but like the look of Celebre D'Allen . He goes well fresh , goes on the ground , has form over both Aintree courses , is lightly raced for an old timer and is at the top of his form . He is worth a little e/w at 125/1 nrnb .
