If I have no confidence in my Japanese figures that is not the case with the local 3 y o crop . My figures suggest that Ballydoyle is not behind . Most are running to 2 y o form or better .

I forgot the lays : Iroko , I Am Maximus and Hewick were early and now Minella Cocooner can join this trio .
Iroko might improve but others can find time too .
I Am Maximus is a sloppy jumper and might remember how easy these obstacles are , he could take one Liberty too many and he has his fair share of weight .
Hewick : his form does not stand scrutiny but I would cheer for him if he is in with a shout at the elbow .
Micellar Cocooner , I mean no insult to Johnny Burke but this horse is not the best fancied of the Mullins squad .
I have backed Hyland , Three Card Brag , Hitman and Celebre D'Allen . The last named might surprise plenty . He has been kept for a Spring campaign , goes fresh , is on his best form and I believe he can run a big race .
Good luck .
For the first forty years of my racing life the turf on the National course was described as springy in dry spells . With that in mind and given the drift Intense Raffles is now an interesting prospect .

It seems that both Broadway Boy and Celebre D'Allen are going to be OK.  Punishment for Nolan is an injustice and his partner ran like a hero .

Derby

It will be a case of " all change " here very shortly but it is worth a quick look .

Ruling Court 0
Pride Of Arras +2+
Delacroix +2+
The Lion In Winter +2
Damysus +3
Purview +5+

Trinity College +8
Stanhope Gardens +8
Royal Playwright +8
Acapulco Bay +8+
Tuscan Hills +9
Tornado Alert +9
Rock Of Cashel +9
Puppet Master +9
Stay True +9 ntbs

Most of these will struggle to get 12f anywhere if breeding is anything to go by .
The Lion In Winter , Delacroix and Windlord look as if they might but are far from certain to get the Epsom 12 .
Lambourn did The Futurity form no harm when runner up to Delacroix .
The Lion In Winter is far from certain to run . He might not be ready for The Dante . Take another look at his form and you should see that it is not cast iron . Paddy Twomey's yard was not at its best last season and his Currawood has had his limitations exposed this time round with the stable in top gear. In The Acomb The Lion In Winter beat decent types but the only G1 horse in the race did not fire .
One could also make a case for Delacroix to be on +1 if you take into consideration the last runs of Lambourn , Puppet Master and Wemightakedelongway . That should become more clear tomorrow .

Nobody loves Delacroix , "experts " knock him for being a "grinder " or knock him for showing a pretty good turn of foot off of a slow pace . His form holds up without fictional upgrades . Whirl is the latest to help his form . Take a good look for yourself . Delacroix is not a Sea Bird II or Galileo but he is a good horse .
Oh dear , The Dante result throws a spanner in the works . 5/2 Delacroix is too short as it would be wrong to have him favourite over the Guineas winner . The horse to take from The Dante is the Sandown winner , Swagman .

Six 3 y o to follow .

21 Mar 25 22:10
Hazdann : the form from his Maiden is quality stuff and reaches out to the likes of The Lion In Winter and Delacroix .
Windlord : looked to run below par when tried at The Curragh but the two in front of him that day have won G1s since .
Arabian Dusk : at least a G2 filly as a baby might make top grade this season .
King Of Cities : Sean Levey made it clear that he thought this colt was a good one .
Stem : good winner on heavy ground , entered at The Curragh in both Guineas and Derby .

Christ! I have forgotten the sixth one .
Noble Champion : comes from one of the gaffs but might be a nice colt . Entered at Newmarket .
Remember to gamble responsibly , don't miss one and worry about the mortgage later .

Iknowthewayurthinkin +12 will need help to win this

The books are out to get the favourite . The rest can be struck out for one reason or another .
Banbridge , King George form looks blown to pieces and his previous with Energumene looks dubious as well .
Inothewayurthinkin is trained for the race at Aintree so will not be 100% .
The Real Whacker form does not stand up and that applies to Gentlemans Game and Montys Star .
Ahoy Senor is talented but rarely shows it and that leaves Corbetts Cross .
At Aintree , last Spring , he ran well behind Gerri Colombe and on that form he should be second favourite . If his Kempton and Ascot form was correct then he would not be here . I believe this has been his target and think he is well worth an e / w bet at around 16/1 .
And while I am on my soapbox , the Ryanair form looks suspect . The winner is a lovely chap and beat what ran but it was only Heart Wood that ran, nothing else turned up .
EDIT bad policy to excuse beaten horses but the favourite looked unhappy with the kickback on the way to the start .

Provisionals included . Convergent had slipped my mind completely and the figure looks too high but Burke only has a couple of entries .
24/3 there was interest in Seagulls Eleven over the weekend , a flurry of bets across the board early Saturday morning .
Camille Pissarro looks out of place but he was penalised at The Curragh . The natural order of things is in place at last with the colts  ahead of the fillies . The Gladness used to be a recognised trial for classic colts but , like The Madrid and English Free Handicap , has fallen out of favour over the last 30 years . Nijinski and Minsky won it in the 1970s . Minsky ran in The Brigadier's Guineas. Giant's Causeway and Lomond won it recently .
.If you missed what Aidan O'Brien said allow me to summarise . In The Gladness Ryan was never going to ask for more than 90% of Camille Pissaro . The reason for this was because winning the race probably cost Giant's Causeway the Guineas . Strictly speaking Cosmic Year is still a provisional rating since the key was a long way behind and the placed horses are unknown to me . It was a long looking 5 lengths but I have used the official distance .
And wrt NH racing Alex Harvey(5) is worth every pound of his claim .........

Lake Victoria looks to be uneasy in the market but was too short at 3/1 .
Arabian Dusk might be of interest at a very big price . The Crisford string seems to be in fine fettle if results from the desert are anything to go by . Take a look at her form .
24/3 Desert Flower is now a 7/4 fav . Ridiculously short as there are at least 6 fillies that could win and not an eyebrow would be raised . Then there is Lake Victoria and several dark ones .
Swelter , as expected , joins Lake Victoria at the top but is going to The Curragh .

I have had a small bet on Back On The Lash . 50 /1 nrnb . Third in this event off of 140 he should now run off of 133 . Forget the fact that he is out of the handicap .
EDIT : I think these might need adjusting . After checking manually I could see that bottom weight was 10.0 . Now the figures have changed and it looks like bottom weight is 10.5 . In this case the error is not mine but Weatherby's .
So the top weight is 11.10 and bottom weight 10.5 . In the Ultima they are 12.0 and 10.3 respectively . Why is this ?

If you are looking for a longshore what about Third Time Lucky ? You can put a line through his last three runs . He now runs off of 134 and at one time he was o/r 153 . He is worth a look .
