So........I have a free roll on Wright for just over a grand, having taken my stake back out after backing him at 9.6, 9.8 & 10. I only took the stake back because I was concerned he may withdraw with covid. As I said on the other thread, those prices were madness. I have no intention of cashing out, I firmly believe that at the crucial times he will deliver. There were small signs last night that Smith was starting to wilt. Will it happen in the final? I just can't see past a Wright win but I stand to be corrected!!

Just for some balance.  I think The Premier League is more relevant than the Melbourne Masters.

Pauliow, having noted my concerns on the other thread I was grateful to get my stake back on Wright due to covid withdrawals. It took 3K off of my potential returns but I'm more than happy/fortunate with my position. I staked a further £100+ on other players. One being M. Smith @ 28 for £11. To think I picked Price for back to back titles, yet backed Wright. Having studied the draw I always believed he'd see off van Gerwen if they met though we'll never know.

My Outright position:

Smith +291

DnB I was leading a competition by 1 point where it's a 2 points for a win and 5 points for the correct score.  I fancied Peter Wright but I went Smith 7-5 thinking he'd think I'd go for the fave, and he needed to oppose me.  I was right   He went 7-4 Smith.  I went 7-5 Smith.  So anything but 7-4 Smith is good for me.

Well done Peter Wright. Very tenacious when under the cosh, and timed his awesome surge perfectly at 4-5 (0-2) to win something like 8 legs in a row. A well-deserved victory.

Smith was shocking in those two throws to win the 10th set, then threw his toys out the pram near the end just slinging the things

Can't remember the last time I watched the PL. Interest in it is long gone for me.

tbf Smith was outplayed in the 8th set but Wright missed countless doubles and seemed to be gone himself.

From 5-4, 2-0 though Smith was terrible.

Smith looks depressed even when he has just hit a 180 or won a set, really not the sort of body language you expect from an elite competitor. Maybe there is something to be said for Gerwyn's antics.

I'm  not the biggest darts fan and probably only seen about 8 of the PDC finals, but I doubt Wright would have won any of those others playing at that level.

I think the standard has dropped a bit.

That early leg of 28 darts destroyed the averages.
I'm gonna look up the leg in leg stats as many were sub 15 darts.
As for the standard dropping, Wade said this a year or 2 ago and got slated.

well done Wright backers. Smith saw the finishing line at 5-4 2-0 and his head started to go. Wright sensed it and from 5-5 it all went one way. I thought this was going to be Smith's big breakthrough but he's the bridesmaid once again
