Glad to see the arrows are back on home soil and on live TV.

Personally am having a few shekels on Mr Alan Norris - Ok, he has Gary Gary in the first round, but that it is the best point to meet Mr Anderson, in my humble and he could go deep in to trade out nicely from my starting point of 254-1.

It's in his interests to do that though. If he snaps it would make him look like a mug as well. Plus he won, always easier when you've won.

Yer someone will need to step up to the mark, because MvG hasn't even really even hit top gear here and just ploughed through the field. Darts especially though is one of those sports where you need it to be competitve, it was same with Taylor. Taylor's memorable matches are always when he was tested.

Yer I think he will find it hard to get out of that though. Firstly the players are getting well paid, secondly it will be seen as important by the PDC that Taylor, who is still by far the biggest name turns up, and Barry Hearn is Taylor's manager.

Taylor barely plays floor events otherwise.
Report GRANTCKING July 24, 2016 8:57 PM BST

but Harrington probably means him not bothering going on the world tour, and coming into the Matchplay fresh as a daisy. but he'd also come in very rusty with no match practice against the best, because they'd have all been playing abroad for the laat 8 week or whatever
Report n88uk July 24, 2016 8:59 PM BST
Thing is most of that stuff is in Europe too, so as long as you've got MVG turning up to pretty much everything which he does it matters less.

fully agree. exactly how I see it. Taylor would have been anyone in that whole tournament, apart from MVG

Report n88uk July 24, 2016 8:59 PM BST
I would guess most of them aren't happy about the world tour particularly. Pretty draining, but pretty sure they get well paid for it, and as always money will talk.
Report wisewords July 24, 2016 9:00 PM BST
money does talk, agreed. Phil is doing everything he can to challenge but he's just world #2 now. simple as that
Report n88uk July 24, 2016 9:00 PM BST
Taylor always averages high like that in defeat though. He didn't actually play very well, and was thoroughly outclassed on stage despite the averages saying otherwise. Probably worst of all is he seemed resigned to the fact he had lost very early.
Report wisewords July 24, 2016 9:00 PM BST
and arguably world #3 over a shorter format
Report n88uk July 24, 2016 9:01 PM BST
Anderson is still #2. Hasn't Anderson won 2 world titles since Taylor even won a TV title. Hard to argue otherwise if that's true. Anderson is more up and down than Taylor.
Report sickoflayinwinners July 24, 2016 9:02 PM BST
that was one of my luckiest bets, taylor  thrashed him in averages , legs and 180s, the only thing won was highest checkout which  he won with 130(in a match of that length with  players of that class 130 uniquely to suffice)but it did and i i actually laid 1.7 mag i  that market, i feel a bit blessed
Report wisewords July 24, 2016 9:03 PM BST
Taylor is still #2 in the world in my eyes.
Report n88uk July 24, 2016 9:03 PM BST
Taylor tends to average high because he doesn't tend to throw in gunk legs sitting on 300 when the other guy is finishing, he will throw a lot of solid 100s etc. But there's more to darts than just a high average, it's when you play the big legs.
Report wisewords July 24, 2016 9:03 PM BST

You ain't going to beat anyone is that long format if your opponent throws 67% on the checkouts. Like Phil said it was a bullying, one of the best MVG showings of many.
Report olddesperado July 24, 2016 10:56 PM BST
Absolutely bizarre behaviour from Taylor again tonight.

Looks very likely he has mental issues and probably attention disorders.

Its always been lurking in his character but got aired big time tonight.

From the moment he knew he couldn't win at about 11 _ 5 his whole persona changed and his focus was on keeping the attention on himself no matter how much of a fool he had to make of himself.

When kids have ADD they can't accept their siblings getting attention in front of them so will try all sorts to switch the attention to themselves ranging from the annoying to bold to downright dangerous if they have to.

It was telling how he calmed down during his interview apart from trying to rally support to bully mvg even confessing to wanting to teach someone to do it if he couldn't.

In his mind mvg should not be getting more attention than him and had to be taken down anyway by anyone.

Also telling how he didn't want to give up the interview when they went back to Michael even sticking his head in front of the camera.

Most of Taylors antics during the match were behind mvg,s back like the copying of his celebration the faces to the crowd about him and whipping up the crowd on his throw.

I think mvg will be disappointed in Taylor when he watches it back and Taylor should be ashamed as should mardle and Harrington who are only too quick to pull up some rookie yet kept stun through all that tonight.
