PDC are keen to gloat about the man who switched a host of teenagers on to darts. Sky sports could not believe their good fortune."MICHAEL VAN GERWEN is closing in on a slice of history after moving to the brink of earning £1 million on the PDC Order of Merit. The Dutch star's incredible success over the past two years has seen him overtake Phil Taylor as the world number one with an amazing run of wins."Take off the 3% levy to the pdpa and 15% to the other mob, not forgetting the tax man's greedy slice. Is it still 50%? Leaves mvg with less than 320k. On a more trouble some note...Players ranked around the 50 mark on the main order of merit are merely breaking even, the rest are jobbing it with full time work commitments on top.Too much money at the top end and not enough filtered down throughout the system...
The £1 million thing is more as a measure of how well he's done in terms of ranking rather than making a point about how much money he's making per se.
If you're going to mention how he's not actually taking home a lot of that money, then it's only fair to point out the money he's made from the GSOD, PL, The Masters, World Cup, World Series, Championship League, exhibitions, 9-darter prize money and obviously buckets in endorsements/sponsorship.
I'd think he's easily taken home over £1 million in the last two years
