![]() ![]() ![]() with 3 world titles Wolfie already stands as one of the true all time greats of darts ![]() just wonder how much last night will have taken out of him, should be a great watch either way |
|

Durrant should have had him yesterday but bottled it in the end. 2 schools of thought I suppose - yesterday was the scare and adams now goes on to win it. Or that was almost like a final and it would have taken a lot out of him hence not being able to back it up. You'd think Adams' experience will prevent the 2nd. Also question whether Mitchell has it mentally to win. Can potentially see similar to yesterday in that Mitchell gets in a position to win but starts thinking about it too much when it matters.

7/10 England's Greatest Captain - Averages and Darts Per Leg*
1st round: 94.11 (15.97*) 2nd round: 89.37 (16.82*) 1/4 final: 93.84 (15.85*) Semi final: 97.92 (15.35*) v 13/10 Scott Mitchell - Averages & Darts Per Leg* 1st round: 92.55 (16.24*) 2nd round: 93.12 (16.14*) 1/4 final: 96.00 (15.66*) Semi final: 93.27 (16.11*) Averages stats aside - The sequence of winning legs in both semi final matches were top class. Especially in the 2nd semi, with endless legs of 15 darts or less. Wolfie raised his game (and his average) to beat Durrant, otherwise it would have been curtains. THE BDO is the new PDC = A throw back to the BDO of old ![]() |

Please God not Rolfie again.
Any man who walks an invisible dog onto a stage surely deserves to be a World Champion. |

It was unfortunate that Durrant missed a dart for the match, or was it two darts, I could hardly contain my excitement? He wired the double, far from bottled it, and what he should at least take away from the devastating loss is the finish on the bull when Wolfie was on a double for the match. That should stand him in good stead for the future. Wolfie's 58 (and a half) and getting better and better with each match.
I thought the same age scenario with taylor v ando. 3 tough matches in 3 days might creep up on him. Though he did have 3 darts in hand to go clear of ando, so who knows which Wolfie turns up? Women can make you, yet ruin you as the past few years have shown. Regular nights of gravy have got the wolf hungry for more... |
|
By:
Durrant had 3 for it. Wired double 16, hit single 8 right in corner when going for d16 again and think he might have missed bull as well?
Would love to see Mitchell win it but if Adams plays like he did last night he wins. Only worry would be the adrenaline and drama might have taken something out of him as he is almost 60 |

60? Wolfie's nearer to 59

That Adams/Durrant semi was an exceptional game in terms of quality & excitement and I thought it was a shame the averages dropped off late on as that match deserved both players to hit the ton mark - that's a regular occurrence in the PDC but the majority of those games haven't had me on the edge of my seat like I was last night - averages going through the roof is great for the game but they're not everything and sub-tons don't necessarily mean a mediocre match.
Durrant has been a revelation throughout this tournament and I think he shaded this one despite being the loser - I have a slight recollection from last year that he was quietly fancied for a debutant and he was relatively short in the betting...anyone remember what price? I think it's very harsh to say he 'bottled it' just because he had match darts...as clichéd as it sounds, in classic encounters like that one of them has to lose. Bottling it is what Merv King did against James Wade...not wiring three darts in the biggest match of Glen's life! I can't ever remember Adams playing that well before and he showed tremendous bottle on a number of occasions (especially the 136 finish which I think levelled at 4-4 instead of going 5-3 down) that were absolutely crucial...something I didn't think he had in him. I'd wager that D&B's been quietly nursing his horn over what's been a great tournament ![]() I hope Scott Mitchell wins as I reckon he's won many of us doubters over with some exceptinal finishing but I suspect Wolfie will have his measure and Mitchell revert to type...folding like a pack of cards in the pocket of a cheap suit hanging in an MFI wardrobe ![]() I want to be wrong so I hope Scott reads this and it fires him up to have the same effect as my post about Jeff 'The First Time Cottager' Smith clearly did for the Canadian ![]() |

Has to be said this has been a great week of darts. Really enjoyed it. Some good characters, good games.
Womens darts been superb and both BT and BBC presentations struck a good balance. Skys coverage can be a little too polished at times, they concentrate purely on the darts now whereas been more background/fun stuff on the lakeside coverage. |

Agreed Step...even though there's a real creepy 'keep it in the family' atmosphere around the Lakeside - it's like you'd imagine a venue from The League Of Gentlemen to be!

Agree with everyone has been a great week totally enjoyed it.
One complaint is the camera work has been a joke at times, why do we need to see their faces when they are throwing then the dart board after it's thrown. |
|
By:
Last night's averages were:
Glen Durrant 99.87 Martin Adams 97.92 That's rather ironic for Glen as we were all bemused by Karel Sedlacek losing with 99.57 to him - as the saying goes, what comes around... |
