Just about recovered from the surreal nature of Ray's post match love in and half hope he wins tonight just to see him do something similar to Phil. Great looking line up but don't know if that means great looking betting opportunities but will give it a bash.

Michael Van Gerwen v Gary Anderson:

QF - MVG bt Robert Thornton 5-2
Ave: 105.26
180's: 13
HC: 170
CO%: 48%

Anderson bt Peter Wright 5-1
Ave: 102.12
180's: 11
HC: 121
CO%: 37%

First semi has the potential to be an all time great game but so did last year's semi with MVG and Lewis never showed up! MVG reserved his best performance of the year probably for his QF and he was brilliant throughout the match. His finishing was deadly once again but actually rediscovered his scoring power too. Anderson has been terrific last few months on tv and has averaged over 100 in 8 of his last 9 games. Again scoring brilliantly but actually looks to have discovered some belief in himself. He also thinks he is due Michael one I think after letting him off the hook in last year's event. Tricky game to call on a lot of markets as they are just so high. HC market over 148 which is highest I have ever seen and doesn't interest me either way. Over 25 maxes is also high and to go over you're looking at 36 or 37 legs based on their stats so far. Anderson maxes at 12.5 suggests you need 33 or 34 legs again which probably needs a 10 set match so no go. Only bet I'm having is a small interest on Anderson to win. Based on form and averages not much in it so hard to justify why he is a 7/4 shot.

Recommendation: 1pt win Gary Anderson @ 7/4 (Ladds)

Phil Taylor v Raymond Van Barneveld:

QF - Taylor bt Vincent Van Der Voort 5-3
Ave: 104.03
180's: 6
HC: 87
CO%: 40%

Barney bt Stephen Bunting 5-4
Ave: 98.37
180's: 13
HC: 125
CO%: 45%

Second semi sees 2 great rivals face off once more for a place in the final. Phil has changed his darts and in the 2 games since he did he has averaged well but has never seemed totally convincing to me. He still hasn't hit a ton plus finish the whole tournament which is quite bizarre and I don't think he looks overly convincing on his doubles either. Not sure where to start with Barney who has came through 3 last set deciders now suggesting he's found some grit from somewhere despite not being at his best. If he can keep it close I definitely think he has some belief again but it might depend on the start. Again based on the stats I think the 180 line is too high here. Phil is averaging only 1 max every 6.6 legs and Barney is 1 every 3.78 legs. If they keep that up then you're going to need 40+ legs to get anywhere near the line. Not a huge fancy but definitely worth a small interest on the unders.

Recommendation: 1pt win under 19.5 maxes @ 4/6 (Sky)

Summary: Hopeful of 2 really good games tonight and if I can get a winner along the way that would be lovely. I'm on Subtitles outright too so double bubble tonight and fingers crossed he can get the job done. All fancies and banter as welcome as always and hopefully it gets as funny as it did last night Laugh

If MVG hit 13 180s in 7 sets and Ando hit 11 in 6 sets, why do you feel they'd need 10 sets to reach 26 between them?
It does seem a high line but if they both start firing as we know they can, they could easily reach that total in 8-9

Based on 4 matches so far mate MVG has had 32 in 97 so just about 1 in every 3 legs played
Anderson 36 in 93 matches so roughly 1 every 2.58 legs

If we get 36 legs based on that MVG would have 12 and Anderson 14 which is the line. Rough guesses as the tempo will suit both and it could go nuts but 26 is a big number to reach

Fair point mate but you could argue that in the early rounds they don't really need to push it or raise their game (Ando v Klaasen obviously an exception), but if they're firing tonight and pushing each other and we get 8-9 sets i think they could cover the line. Cheers for the info and write up as ever. I think we'll get 6-3 or 6-4 MVG.

If Barney can be at least level after 6 sets I'm hoping his experience will help him get over the line, something Huybrechts and VvV couldn't quite manage. If he falls 2 sets behind I think the head shaking Barney may make a reappearance. You'd have to fancy him for high c/o either way considering Taylor's highest c/o is still under 100.
MVG v Anderson could be a classic. My only bet in this might be to back whoever loses the 1st set as I think there's often an overreaction, especially if it's 3-0/3-1, even with the darts. Other than that I think it'll be at least 10 sets - can't wait. I'm just surprised that Phil has agreed to go on 2nd match!

Very simple for me, just two bets: Barney and Subby.

And a double. And the correct scorelines 6-4 in their favour. And the correct score double.

Fancy Anderson on the +1.5 handicap market at any odds against (so does market by looks of it, but already had a bit).

He could go close to winning, but even if losing may well make it very close. (cue 6-0 now, lol)

I'm out tonight so will miss the darts, will catch up with it on Sky tomorrow, will also trawl through the thread for the inevitable funnies Grin

Hoping for a Subtitles win, can't see Barney doing Taylor, his comedown will be too much for him to handle I reckon.

Good luck with your bets everyone.

i think its crucial that anderson starts quickly,if not i can only see an mvg victory.sometimes these big games come down to heart and mvg has more imho.if mvg starts quickly i can see gary getting a thumping myself.mvg is a proven winner, gary flatters to decieve on most occasions and rarely lands the major plunder.i hope subby wins but it would be a big surprise if he does for me,good luck all.

I fancy Anderson on the 180's v MVG. I think the pace of the game will sort Anderson more so than the previous couple of rounds for pinging them in. I know MVG was prolific in the previous round but I find him to be inconsistent hitting 180's plus he likes to switch alot. Obviously cannot be over confident but it is a bet I like.

I'm going for a dutch double tonight. I think MVG will just have too much for Anderson and I'm hoping that RVB will do Taylor. I know I keep saying it but I'm still not convinced that Taylor is at his best under pressure any more. Gl all, looking forward to some great darts and even better banter.

Taylor has either 1) not hit form yet, or 2) what we have seen is as good as he is now, he was just not good on those doubles. I'm going for no.2 and he will not win but may need to rely on MVG or Ando to stop him.
