If you're 7 foot tall and Latvian you do well to end up in darts and not basketball.

This new board is made out of rocks held together with concrete I reckon.

Razma's steady, Michael's either decent or gash....

Yeah you get the impression Razma could score 85 all day long.

How hard can it be to make a board where the darts stay in?

I used to get them in my garage wall easy enough.

that phil nixon final was incredible

-------------------------------------------------

quite a while before phil played at the lakeside i was was playing in a bdo tournament to see who

represented durham in either the world masters or the gold cup (no not the cheltnham one) during which

phil hit a 9 darter when they were still quite rare though he did go on to lose the game to one of his

team mates from spennymoor the team he was playing for in the super league at the time.

he had qualified for the lakeside when we went to play our superleague match against them and

i told him a few of our lads were going to have bet on him and he said all you've got to do to get a

free bet is to back me to beat my first round apponent darryl fittons i'm his bogey man i always beat

him

i collected the money in and went up to corals (who were offering the best odds of 150/1) at consett on

the saturday and put £100 ew 1/2 1-2 we then backed him to beat fitton as he said he was the slight

underdog i recall.

you can imagine the atmosphere in the pub when as we all gathered to watch the final ranging from

dissapointment for him that he hadn't done himself justice to screaming at the tele like lunatics when

he came storming back and looked to have the momentum to go on and become the world champ.

boy did we party that night and a few days later after i'd arranged to get the paid the £7600 in cash

and shared it out we raised a glass to phil and then we got drunk again.

rest in peace old friend and thanks for the memory

Happy Nice mr. crisp

Was an absolute classic in my mind, anyone who got Sharon Adams to sod off for a set was worth the money in my books.  The final will live on a long time mate.
