Have backed Hammer at 20-1 ew, simply as the way he is playing I thought he was very underestimated simply as he was due to meet PT here. Hardly confident but I reckon the big one is who has the darts? If hammer gets them he will be hard to break early on and will gain huge confidence even if only in the early stages. I loved the way he never gave up against Bully andf just kept pounding away before the doubles finally arrived. He looks very big in the match prices but I'll happily just watch.
Reckon Whitlock will take Barney/ His match against Chissy was very high class and Barney has not had to reach that level of pressure yet. He did look wafty at times but I'd have them closer together in the match. Interested to read re the 180's though - Bristow commented he couldnt understand some of his throws. Very small bet on Wizard only today for me |

Happy what were the rumours? That people were betting on low 180's ??
By:
I'd heard a few rumours of him loving the casino before the tourney started then he showed up with new tattoo of a roulette wheel. I never saw it on twitter but a couple of reliable posters on here said there was a few rumours kicking about twitter so who knows what to make of it
By:
yes Bainny. Dunno if it was allegedly the match bet or backing unders on the 180's but theres many ways to do it IF you wanted to
By:
Chizzy was big fav on 180's anyway so might have been his BUT can't think it is true. If you don't hit 180's you lose game. Winning the whole event gets you £200K and higher seedings premier league etc etc which would bring in hundreds of thousands more than winning £10K on a betting scam !!!
No bookies have cried foul, so no doubt a load of bull !!! |

Sounds like a lot of nonsense to me. Whitlock does go some unusual ways but he always has done. There are plenty of opportunities for a player to get involved in dodgy stuff without doing it in the last 16 of a very tough world championship match.
On a brighter note I love the write ups. They're always worth a read. I thought Barney played very well yesterday even though anderson was poor. He took out doubles at crucial times to stop Anderson getting any thoughts of a way back. I think he'll beat Whitlock though should be a classic game. Hamilton is definitely overpriced against Taylor though I'll be cheering on Taylor. Hamilton's style is just a little too slow for me. The medium to fast paced games are always more enjoyable. Taylor v barney/whitlock in the semi's has much more appeal. |
By:
I don't know either way but all I'm saying is it would be possible. Silverback has also heard the main reason he leaves 170 so often is because people are betting on him to hit one so he tries to give himself as many chances as possible
No worries asparagus love writing them and glad so many people seem to enjoy them ![]() |

HH, what do you think of Hamilton most 180's v Taylor @ 4/6 ?
By:
I almost put it up as a bet mate but I was worried about him only hitting 2 v Jenks in r3
By:
yeah, been some unusually low numbers of 180's in that last round. I had a nightmare yesterday as well, although I thought they all looked good beforehand.
Newton checkout over 124.5 @ 5/6 Whitlock v Chissy over 14.5 180's @ 5/6 Van Gerwin over 6.5 180's @ 4/6 Van Gerwin ( -3 ) 180's v Lloyd @ 5/4 !!! |

Long time since ive posted here, been following happyhibbees write ups with great pleasure, always a great read. Anyway i think the bet for tonight is Under 14.5 180s between Hamilton and taylor @10/11. Hamilton hasnt been hitting them with any great fluency in this tournamnt, and taylor just generally isnt a big 180 scorer because of his thicker darts, 2 of them have to hit the bottom of the T20 bed so he can set the last one on top of them, when this doesnt happen he usually switches down for the 177. Also im not sure how Hamiltons head will be after the last time the pair met on TV, this game could be over in 6 sets.
Anyway thats my 2 cents worth....que a barrage of 180s from taylor!! :) |
By:
Fair point Flan my only reservation is if it goes 8 or 9 sets but it is a big ask to get 15 especially as Taylor has been far from battering the maxes

Thanks hh for your excellent preview of tonights games. I won't be having a bet on the Whitlock game after what happened yesterday, hopefully barney puts the aussie out. I like the handicap bet on Hamilton, i can see Andy starting like a train again but Phil eventually winning in a tight game.

Havent seen Mrs Newton at tourneys lately, any news??

who do you all fancy now on the o/r, esp you happyhibee? persoanlly cannot believe lewis is still available at double figures, looked v v much to me like he was running into form and if anyone can get inside mvg's head it's him
By:
I fancy MVG to be honest mate think he can blow them all away including Taylor
By:
Seemingly Barney has only beaten Whitlock once out of their last 8 meetings on tv too
By:
hoping the MVG injury, slightly calms him down to concentrate more.
By:
Can't trust Whitlock after that f!x yesterday! Very strange shot selections and market loved him for it! Not to be trusted in tonights match especially given his past.
By:
Why would he throw this match? He has a good chance of winning this tournament AND he has won twice as many games against Van Barneveld as he has lost.
By:
i may be wrong but i think he hit 3x19=171 and 3x18=162 before he managed a 180 yesterday,i am not casting aspersions but it did seem a bit odd to me when you consider that he switched quiet a few times as well when the first two darts were nicely placed in treble 20.
By:
it is certainly true whitlock likes the casino in pompey
however anybody who thinks he would throw a match at this level should give up betting now having said that the sub markets i could see and have little doubt it happens with a few players |
By:
At no point have I said he was throwing a match just there was rumours about the side markets which is a completely different thing.
There was a stat yesterday that after 3 sets he'd only hit 4 more treble 20's than treble 19's. And he was 2-1 up at that point |
By:
Why would you think I was referring to your post as opposed to the post above mine?
By:
agree with your bets 100% hibee, whether thats good or bad i dont know lol

Another vote of approval for HH's write ups here. As much part of xmas as anything else
![]() I had a shocker yesterday though with every bet a loser. But on the plus side a couple of Russians have just been round to buy my car which has been on Autotrader since June without a nibble. Just given me £5k in cash for it which is sitting next to my laptop now. So it's game on again - can't recall I've ever held a wad of cash so thick.I've got Hamilton pre-tournament in the OR, so will leave that match alone. But I think Whitlock can bring Barney down to earth with a bump. That 152 shows he's got balls of steel under pressure and these stats on Barney from last night shouldn't give too much cause for concern. R3 - Barney bt Gary Anderson 4-0 Ave: 93.35 180's: 4 HC: 52 CO%: 29% |

Silverback has also heard the main reason he leaves 170 so often is because people are betting on him to hit one so he tries to give himself as many chances as possible No worries asparagus love writing them and glad so many people seem to enjoy them i noticed this with Whitlock a long time ago. Nothing wrong with trying to win your mates a few quid IMO. On the 180 note there were several examples of players deliberately switching where before Xmas they would have gone 180. MVG went for the bull after two trebles yesterday and towards the end when he knew the line was well under he started to hit the 180s again. Be careful, regular punters will always have a disadvantage in this respect. |

I think Barney had far more in the tank if needed and fully expect him to take the Wizard down tonight.
By:
Anyone else think barney is still badly out of shape and 2 big matches in 2 days might just be beyond him? For someone who used to blight on about his illness he doesn't to my eyes seem to have done a great deal about it! He's always blowing out his a rse when he gets interviewed after and he only played 4 sets yesterday!

Just stating in case anybody thinks I was insinuating he was throwing matches not having a go at anybody ancic

just the one bet on whitlock @ 2.70 .

Ive had £200 0n over 136 checkout

The standout price for me is 2.60ish on here Whitlock most 180s. I'd have had him favourite prior to yesterday.
How brave are we feeling chaps? |
By:
i think whitlock will win a close game but as i struggle backing a winner I'm gonna leave it.
By:
the 4 semi finalists last year? Whitlock/Hamilton & Wade/Lewis.
40/1 for that again, surely worth a fiver? |
By:
but having said that i'm hoping for a Lewis/Wade/Taylor/Barney last 4, without doubt they all have been the best TV players in the last 5 years.
It would be fitting to see them all battling for the WC. |
By:
i reckon barney here

By:
Under 17.5 maximums for me,in the Barneveld match for me
