Chokes and blame the crowd. It's textbook Merv.

If the crowd are that much of a problem, suck it up, give a good speech, kiss their arse and change opinions. Instead he makes it 10 times worse for next time, I know it cant be easy, the crowd can be morons but he needs to look at himself to.

It's a real shame that Phil wasn't there to give Merv a richly-deserved friendly pat on the head like at Wolver a few years back.

The players can't have it both ways.

If you want to play for decent money you have got to get the paying punters in. If that means copious amounts of alcohol and a bit of pantomime then so be it. The alternative is to make every venue alcohol free and play in silence. Unfortunately the crowd will then be much smaller and will certainly not be paying £50 a head. Kings purse would then be nearer £4k rather than £40k.

Funny how the crowd only gets mentioned when he starts to play poor, he was 4-1 up and crusing then his level dropped. He couldn't pick his level up, it's easy to blame the crowd.

^^^^^^^ what a load of ####.

The crowd affected him.  They have to remember there is £60K at stake.

King better going back to the BDO. If he feels the way he does, and keeps moaning about the crowds, it will only get worse. Sure he did not moan
about the crowds' at the BDO as much.

Banned_Banks:   Agree but Barry Hearn has to take the credit here.  It is him who has increased the prize money.  Yes yes yes we all pay a little, BUT the major chunk comes from the sponsors.

Spillsy knows what he's talking about to be fair. He's been on the receiving end of crowd abuse himself, during his 5 year reign as PG Tips Desert Classic winner in Runcorn. All sorts were giving him vile abuse. One of the PG Tips chimps even jumped onto the stage and pulled his trousers down while he was trying for a 9 darter (was throwing 1st dart of the leg at the time).  How sick was that?

The sponsors put the Money in because of the Viewing Fiqures and attendances so that's a point doesn't make any sense.

I don't disagree however without the crowds making the atmosphere Sky would not have as strong a product and sponsors would not be as willing to pay top price.

Would the viewing figures be so high if their was 2 Men and a Dog watching alongside the Players Families and Friends??Somehow I don't think so. Please don't go throwing insults about because your Man lost.

Forget the crowd - THE PLAYERS make the sport.  They deserve the credit for getting the sport where it is.
