Has anyone been the first two days? Is there a betting booth in the corner again this year? I remember there was one when SJ and SKY had the event but not seen it this year. Cheers

I was there on Saturday. There is a betfair booth, but dont waste your time. Its being run by Gary Wiltshire and his merry men of robbers. God knows why betfair have gone down this route. Betfair emblazoned every where and the correct scores are 250%
I spent many good years of the matchplay at stan james booth, piling on bet after bet in running, and chatting to the staff.
Apart from the players area you had the freedom of the venue. One year i took my camcorder (glorious era of the camcorder/video tape to tape set up) and ventured up to the near empty balcony. Next to the cameraman were a stack of monitors showing all the in play stats as the numbers changed with each throw. (Something sky still don't allow the viewer the privilege of seeing, apart from a match with high averages.)
Those days are long gone as accessibility, bouncers and morons in the crowd helped put a stop to the good times.
When things couldn't get ant worse we now have the big gut of Wiltshire (minus the perm!) skimming more than his waistline off the prices. All that's missing is his jovial bbc side kick John Parrott telling us about the "free money" punter who's lumped on the Hammer @ 2/5 with a monstrous £125k
