There are 22 teams
Disqualification of a team for 2 postive tests
Will the tour finish?
Obviously the 2 strong teams are the favs
But Ineos seem seriously undercooked
Do i want to take a short price on the leaders in this case
NO
The route could even change!!!
Leading towards Tom Domoulin/Richard Carapaz

Report harry callaghan September 16, 2020 5:16 PM BST
lopez must be cursing he didn't go earlier today, certainly had the legs to go earlier and cause real damage

i've certainly learnt a valuable lesson today in regards age, as porte was never at the races and didn't have the legs, still you can't do much damage at the odds he has been
Report A_T September 16, 2020 5:43 PM BST
thought porte did really well today - the end of the stage was brutal - never seen gradients like it before in the TdF

Roglic looks the strongest - there is still the time trial which does finish with a 1st category climb so potential for large gains/losses - but it's hard to see him losing a minute lead

Must be near the point where an old riders jersey makes more sense than the young riders jersey
Report harry callaghan September 16, 2020 7:46 PM BST
i thought there were steep gradient parts but plenty of flat parts in between those ramps, not as fierce as i thought it may of been
Report harry callaghan September 16, 2020 9:25 PM BST
many will feel it is just down to the time trail but tomorrows stage really is a brute and i can see action from the start...although not a mountain top finish you can see action tomorrow with 3 cat 1's starting with a proper climb to tenderise the legs...expect to see lopez and porte teams putting the pace to the race in a stage that should suit both riders...certainly don't see lopez not wanting to have a go knowing he is just and average time trailer and plenty of tired legs after today's stage likely to play a part
Report Alices September 16, 2020 9:42 PM BST

I think after Bernol pulled out Ineos have made a clever change of strategy. They'll be happy to win a stage and get a jersey. Perhaps they should have pulled Bernol earlier but probably wanted to see if he could pull something out of the bag on one of the big stages.

Adam Yates Preview
It's not a surprise that I'd prefer a time trial with climbing metres. While the time triallists will always be strong, you also have to take into account that there have been 19 days of racing - so there are a few other factors to take into account. For instance, if you're out of the general classification running and are not a time trial specialist, you're not likely to push hard on this stage, especially with the World Championships next week. Watch out to see if anyone does a bike change - the jury is still out for me.

Rider to watch: Primoz Roglic (Slo/Jumbo-Visma)
Report Angoose September 19, 2020 11:03 AM BST
As a reminder, here are the stage winners to date

    Stage        Winner        Team
    1         Alexander Kristoff        UAE-Team Emirates
    2         Julian Alaphilippe        Deceuninck-Quick-Step
    3         Caleb Ewan        Lotto Soudal
    4         Primoz Roglic        Jumbo-Visma
    5         Wout van Aert        Jumbo-Visma
    6         Alexey Lutsenko        Astana
    7         Wout van Aert        Jumbo-Visma
    8         Nans Peters        AG2R-La Mondiale
    9         Tadej Pogacar        UAE-Team Emirates
    10         Sam Bennett        Deceuninck-Quick-Step
    11         Caleb Ewan        Lotto Soudal
    12         Marc Hirschi        Sunweb
13         Daniel Martinez        EF Pro Cycling
    14         Soren Kragh Andersen        Sunweb
    15         Tadej Pogacar        UAE-Team Emirates
    16         Lennard Kamna        Bora-Hansgrohe
    17         Miguel Angel Lopez        Astana
    18         Michal Kwiatkowski        Ineos Grenadiers
    19         Soren Kragh Andersen        Sunweb

Jumbo-Visma, Sunweb, and UAE-Team Emirates have all bagged three stage wins.
Astana, Deceuninck-Quick-Step, and Lotto Soudal have two each.
AG2R-La Mondiale, Bora-Hansgrohe, EF Pro Cycling, and Ineos Grenadiers have one apiece.

This leaves twelve teams without a stage win.

Four men have won two stages, they are Soren Kragh Andersen (Sunweb), Tadej Pogacar (UAE-Team Emirates), Caleb Ewan (Lotto Soudal), and Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma).

Could Roglic join this group today, or will Pogacar be the first three stage winner this year Confused

When I hold the bike on the rollers and hand crank the pedals, all is well.
But when i sit on the bike, it doesn't want to know, at different time wishing to ride off the front roller or move back off it.

I suspect that the front suspension on the bike has a part to play in all of this, any ideas Confused

have to feel sorry for Roglic but the kid thoroughly deserves this - he'd have been in yellow days ago if it hadn't been for the winds on stage 7. Also he's had to ride the mountains with very little support while Roglic has had 3 or 4 teammates with him constantly.

phenomenal ride by Pogacar..when Sir Brad says on ES he could potentially be the best ever you know you've seen smth very special

Roglic after looking comfortable the whole race shepherded by his massively strong team just wasn't on it today

looks can be deceptive..we are not inside their bodies as onlookers

Pogacar had to stalk Roglic for 3 weeks just on the coat tails of Jumbo Visma as a lone rider basically which is exponentially way tougher than being tucked inside your team train which makes his win even more laudable

fantastic denouement to what is still one of the sporting events of any year
