got back what i f*cked up on the cricket but a little ambivalent given van vleuten's terrible fall johansson was gaining on VDB near the line maybe she lacked her explosiveness initially good course but dangerous on the descent hope the other dutch girl is OK |

Health and safety is dominating most sports .....but we have road cyclists descending in shade covered rain forest with deep rain gullies ....not my idea of an acceptable course.
Hopefully the dutch girl is fine , it was a nauseating fall . And that was after spending the whole race hoping a Brit would not win . The climb was terrific to watch . |

Thank god there was good news on Van Vleuten last night. I was in floods of tears when she went down fearing the worst.
How she came out of that with only 3 fractures and concussion I'll never know. Hope if nothing else it becomes a lesson not to f*ck about with dangerous descents. |

and very positive on social media given the gravity of what befell her such a shame it denied her almost certain gold CJ70..don't think it's a case of 'effing about' these guys are racers sometimes being too cautious can be dangerous just got unlucky as did Nibali and henao the day b4 maybe they could or should have removed those horrendously dangerous concrete kerbstones for the race could easily replace them after wouldn't have prevented the falls per se but would've mitigated what could've been a fatality |

wish her all the for a full recovery, and you have to blame organisers for lack of safety measures, almost a little stonewall aside the road, and probably a layer of tarmac put on the concrete road like it was on uphill section, so it was also dangerous to reach the edge of the road. The crash was caused by a riding error though, it looks to me the way she went into this bend from the inside she wasn't aware this was a rather sharp turn, she had no chance at that speed.

Iranian cyclist dies at Paralympics
Cyclist Bahman Golbarnezhad has died following a crash in the men's C4/C5 road race at the Rio Paralympics, Iran's national Paralympic committee has announced. Golbarnezhad, from Shiraz, was treated at the scene of the accident before being taken to a local hospital. Iran's NPC later announced he had died. He was 48. |
