i don't think i've ever watched a day today being so angry at so called test cricket . crowd seemingly lapping it up as wickets went cheap to honour one player . you are called england , you are trying to save a game , its not a testimonial or a charity job . i've had some great  days at grounds watching but i will never ever pay for a  so called international test cricket match  again . what a farce they have left the lovely trent bridge ground for tom. disrespected the crowd, the event , the whole idea of what this game is about . enjoy a  bang , crash , boom idiot future .

Could not agree more. The very egotistical Stokes making it all about him in the middle of a Test match. Not fit to be captain of England and putting himself before the team and the game in hand. I'm glad that we battered this lot in the Ashes and he's obviously had enough. What a quitter. Good riddance as far as his inclusion in the England squad are concerned. The whole management of England is a complete joke. May it continue.

The arrogance of the England side as well as the management has been breath taking for some time now. It's fine if performances back it up but there was very little humility when things were going wrong.

They prickled at any criticism of Bazball and have basically had an attitude of "we will carry on with our approach regardless" for too long. The worst thing that could have happened was for Bazball to get off to a good start, resulting in Stokes & Co being lauded for such an approach to the game, particularly by those in the fawning media. England were the saviours of Test cricket etc etc. Complete bollix of course but then our media need no encouragement to go totally OTT. Now of course the knives are out and regardless of whether this game and series is lost those at the top surely have to fall on their swords.

The approach to the run chase last night was totally nonsensical and an insult to all the fans who shelled out their hard earned to watch. Unfortunately it seemed a good few were actually enjoying watching the carnage unfold - welcome to the modern day cricket spectator, weaned on The Hundred, that illegitimate offspring of proper cricket.

Hopefully NZ will complete a well deserved series win and consign Bazball to the dustbin of cricketing history. England will still have a chance of pulling off an unlikely win all the time the admirable Root is at the crease, but one must hope that the miracle does not happen as it will simply paper over the cracks if they get out of this hole.

A new broom sweeps clean and is sorely needed, as long as it's not Harry Brook wielding it  !

Astounded by this. There was a test series to win here but instead Stoke decided to make it all about him - wanting to go out to the cheers of a crowd. Now they've lost the series.

Smith desperate to get off the mark, Joe Root run out as a result. Truly awful cricket.

That said, brilliant bit of fielding.

Smith also brilliant in getting Gay out. Terrific to watch.

Down under was bad enough but they have reached new heights of arrogance and stupidity. Not a good combination for winning. The whole management set up must be changed and a wholescale clearout started tomorrow.

And now Archer just holds his bat out and allows the ball to hit it!. I don't get the impression that most of them want to be there. Bring on the Hundred. After a big booze up tonight of course. After yesterday, can you imagine the England football captain deciding to play in goal for a change? About time management called the shots in Cricket.

Deserved Series win by New Zealand.

Sensible cricket wins again. After The Ashes, now this.

Time for McCullum to go now.

Two run outs - sums England up, absolutely pathetic showing. Great fielding by NZ of course.

A shambles all round. NZ fully deserving of their crushing victory and lets not forget that they hardly had any fit bowlers left, which shows just how bad that English performance was.

I'd like to say that Stokes didn't deserve to finish his international career in that manner, but given the general hubris of the Bazballing set up, it was actually quite fitting.  Please can Key and McCullum walk the plank too. Can you imagine the England football manager surviving in such circumstances ? No chance.

It was rather ironic that Stokes mentioned how much he enjoyed his time back at Durham last week, playing for his county until he was hooked halfway through to "prepare" Laugh for this test. The ECB have been doing their best to destroy the County game for some time now. It has always been the breeding ground for test cricket over the years but now with central contracts being handed out like confetti we often find England players hardly ever turn out for their counties in the 4 day game. Back in the 70s at Kent we often had 4 or 5 players getting called up for test matches, but either side of those games they were back in action for the county. None of this nonsense about "managing their workload" , they were playing the game they loved and we got to see them do it.

We now have the infernal Hundred coming up, getting in the way of proper cricket in mid summer Crazy The only good thing about having to wait until late/mid August for the next test series is that there is time to put a new captain and hopefully management team in place before taking on Pakistan. We can only hope that wise choices are made. RIP Bazball.

I suppose the lesson is that you cannot play Test Cricket like an overs game. Last two series have prove that.

Let McCullum see out his Contact in T20 and the 50 overs game if he wants to, but go back to base for Test Matches. Joe Root might have to take on the Captains role again. As for the Coach might they ask Peter Moores to have a go again?

Applications on a post card please.

Mccullum is apparently on £1m a year. Doubt he will voluntarily give that up Sad

Talk about rewarding failure. He needs to be given the boot.

There are calls for Andy flower to return to the fold, would be quite happy to see that.
