England need a 200 lead.

I think they would be favourites with that.

I think they have enough already based on what we've already seen.

Another shoddy display by the England middle order. Gay looked ok but should of course been out earlier if NZ had reviewed that lbw.
Not much Bethell could do about the shooter he got Cry
Stokes is a worry, he looks a shadow of the batsman he has been.

Very unsatisfactory nmatch but England should win from here. Can't remember when 13 out of 35 wickets so far have been clean bowled, several shouldering arms. Variable bounce and variable movement are lethal.

A couple of my friends, both former grade one cricketers, went down to Lords on Friday. Have to say they thought the wicket was not up to standard.

It was a most unsatisfactory test match thats for sure.

No game at that level should have four completed innings within 160 odd overs, especially at the "Home of Cricket" Cry

The pitch was certainly sub standard but not quite the minefield that the scores suggest. As has been said earlier, too many of today's players lack basic technique and application to deal with the moving ball.

We don't want to see two sides rack up 600 plus each in a bore draw either, we need proper cricketing wickets prepared which are conducive to an  equal contest between bat and ball. Hopefully the Oval Test will be played on such a surface.

The high number of clean bowled does raise questions about technique though.
