Yes nice ground, saw Blackpool T20 side lose at Rufford Monday night. It was their second X1 that play in Div 1 of the Palace Shield.
An innings defeat to Leicestershire.
Only 3 players managed to get over thirty in either innings.

its almost strangely entertaining to watch what is going on at lancs . at what stage barstool do you think those in charge there will suspect they might have to make some changes ?!! or will they just give up on the cricket totally and be happy to fill o t as a concert venue ?
Probably money at the root of it. Not getting the Test matches they used to, have India this summer but have missed out on the Ashes series in 2027.

Grant Stewart is the reason why Windsor, there can't be many better number nines around. He plays knocks like todays every now and then.

fair enough.stewart was very impressive and well done kent for sticking at it , but you could see the all too familiar pattern with lancs failing to maintain pressure , missing half chances fielding and the panic sets in . may not win a 4 day match all season ! anderson hardly bowled which is strange ; past it or injured ?

As a Lancastrian I think I'd be more confident with your Surrey bet as they look very useful although out can happen on the day.
Worst thing about going to Finals day is losing in the first semi and having to watch the three others with your side out. I think I would rather watch a best of three on finals day and have another day set aside for the for the semi's.
Think it would work and boost revenue too. Much more interested in the blast than the 100 with all my cricket mates of the same opinion.

Watched a good game yesterday at Rufford. In a 39 over, Rain delayed (normally 45) match, Lancaster beat us by 30 odd runs. Lancaster overseas player Courtly Louw did the damage with 5 wickets, pace and movement. Fine bowler. Looks like Lancaster and Morecombe going back to the Northern league this year.
I had a little dabble on Kent at 40/1 for the T20 blast last Wednesday. From a value point alone it was worth doing as they are only 12/1 top price now.
Obviously Lancs are favourites to win the QF but on their day Kent can beat anybody.

Played at New Victoria many times in the 70s and 80s for both Bretherton and then Rufford from about 1990.

Your opening bowler was a fine player think his name was Peter Hames. Lame as a duck now but he did play on for a long time bowling off two strides. Good times.

my son in law is from todermorrden ( Lancs League) so we are going to watch wilsden on 17 aug - pretty decent standard- his dad is chairmen of the club

Dogs more than welcome, we get quite a few down on match days with their owners. Even have water bowls for them.

Will keep an eye out for him Dixie , looks like we're giving Surrey a roasting today so far touch wood , Manny Lumsden is only 16 and making just his 2nd first class start has done exceptionally well in both games so rooting for him especially having been born in the county.

Thats correct barstool, its about the only good thing that the Hundred can be credited with, allowing youngsters first team experience whilst the mercenaries are away playing in their pyjamas.
Some very good cricket has been played but alas we see little coverage of it in the media.

oh the irony ....what with jimmy jumping for joy in leeds yesterday . whilst at the ground that bears his name proudly lancs have another ordinary day of bowling and another defeat. one more 4 day dead rubber to go and thats it for the year . 2025 lancs website highlights anyone ?

Certainly easier barstool but myself i use the strike rate per 100 balls decimal anyway whatever the format be it team score or batsman's strike rate , just the way my brain works.
Still no idea how Lanc's lost to Middlesex yesterday from the position they were in but having a lot to play for certainly would have helped Middlesex , hopefully they exit in the 1/4 final though.

Looks like a wet Saturday afternoon for the local cricket. Might get a 20 over game in if both captains can agree.
With the T20 Blast resuming next weekend , how typical that the weather patterns have changed now after such a dry summer.
Let us hope the rain stays away from OT next Saturday to allow a full game to take place.

Next season it looks like sense will prevail as plans are to have the knockout stages follow straight on from the groups (3 groups of 6 counties).

Agree mate, it has ruined the British cricket season and can only succeed in lowering standards. How on earth can we produce good county cricketers when the have to play in the most of their games in spring or late summer.

Worst schedule planning i've seen since following the sport , brainless.
Really felt for Lanky , by comparison we had Fortuin needing to come back from Manchester last night and obviously Dawson but Lanky really hard done by , add that to the Livi misfortune and they'll feel it hasn't been their day through absolutely no fault of their own.
Fair comment Dragon but the least you expect is to be able to select your best X1 together with a fair call from the officials , then if the fielding costs you can take it on the chin.

When 100-1 after 8 overs around 220 would have to be the target from there so that's when a big advantage was lost i'd say.

That Livingstone review was dreadful, just what was she doing saying "I can clearly see a gap between bat and ball".

Lancashire said they had submitted a complaint to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) about the decision which saw Livingstone given out for 29.
The club said they have "formally expressed disappointment" to the governing body.

Hi Dragon, won 4 of last 5. Needed 3 points yesterday against bottom of league to stay up and game washed out, any of 6 teams could have gone down had the games been on. So the status quo remained and we have gone down to div 1. Very unfortunate but we paid the price for a bad start. The seconds got promoted again so some good news. Hopefully back up next year.

Lancashire finished 5th of 8 in Div 2 winning just 3 matches.
Too much one day cricket taking a chunk of talent away does not help of course but it does highlight the lack of quality overall in the squad.
Hope some young talent emerges for next season.
