I wonder which strip they’ll be using for the next test and pondering if this is a good test pitch, it’s taken us deep into day five and there’s been something in it for spinners and seamers, but Ind went from around 1.5 to nearly evens upon losing the toss and if anything the market prob underestimated the advantage of winning the toss!

theres plenty there to choose,its hard to tell which strip will be used

I think the two Archer wickets were crucial to the result. India should have made 400 on this and could have made 500 but gave away their wickets.

Real shame about Jajeda. He provides India with a good balance and you could play Kuldeep as well as him!
Sundar needs to learn from Ashwin and I would have him around the squad.
Maybe I would have K L Rahul in the side for Rohit but I would be scared to the Thuggi's to suggest that!

He has so much potential and could be a very good Test cricketer but he is not ready! He is already a decent batsman but needs to master his trade

Terrestrial TV is good for cricket but back in 2005 when I heard two women in the pub on the table next to me discussing the lbw law I nearly lost it and thought about retiring as monk or yoga sex guru!

England dominated the match from start to finish not seen many better performances than that
Kohli’s captaincy under the spotlight big time now imo. Just a guess but looks to me like there could be big issues in their side. I make us favourites for the series.

There are a number of reasons and most of them quite valid to a large degree

Thanks WD, just read through the gist of it got more of an understanding, not having cricket on terrestrial TV has caused me not to be up to date with modern cricketers from abroad, I loved test cricket when I was young but more from your namesake era, great to see it back again. Probably as I get to know more my punting will get worse but I really thought that 6/4 was a good price as I recall pitches used to break up and perform worst on last day, cheers

In contrast today couldn't have gone much better. Although only Ashwin threw his wicket away it was effectively over once the Gill/Kohli partnership was broken. On that pitch nobody was ever really in.
Maybe Leach and Bess mixing in so much rubbish was actually an advantage in that the better balls were more of a surprise.
Toss was important but you still have to go and get 550. I do wonder if Root doesn't stick around who is going to play that role.
I wouldn't drop Anderson for Broad. If anyone has to go it would be Archer. I can't see him being that effective beyond blasting the tail - who are poor - and he adds nothing with the bat. Lawrence contributed nothing but they might just decide to make the one enforced change.

It was indeed great to have live tests back on terrestrial television and hopefully thousands of young boys will have been introduced to the five day format.Read somewhere that the head honchos had become worried that they've lost a generation worth of potential fans. Hope they bear this in mind before automatically grabbing the money from sky and bt.

My smartTV has an app called ‘all4’ - been watching the highlights on that
There must be some rubbish they could remove from the main channel to show a highlights package?
