Just read the “proud” article and can’t believe it

Proud of his awful captaincy, of not picking the best wicketkeeper, of still playing test cricket like white ball cricket???

Joe is SO proud because the boys who were picked to play Test cricket learnt to adapt to the conditions

Pope's drop was proof (if needed) what an arrogant side England are. How can you not have a back up keeper?

Leach treated shamefully too.

There were a lot of positives in England's batting approach. A few brainfades and lack of aggression of day 4 aside, they showed they could at least try to apply themselves.

Root's captaincy(according to what people say here) probably still sucks. and his post match talk is similar nonsense.

Goes to show it wasn't all the old coach's fault. The system takes time to change. There is willingness to change some of the things at least.

pitch as flat as anything so not sure you can read much into them posting a decent score

more concerning was losing last time on if anything an even flatter surface

should have been the the direst of 0-0 drawn series

I am beginning to think that there may be an issue with Root and Archer
Particularly the way that Root is using him.

Archer seems quite demotivated at times

Archer is already a millionaire by playing T20s and bowling 4 overs.

He'll have to be super motivated to do well in Test cricket for his adopted country. Only he knows if has that fight in him.

Woakes publicly commented he was against Archer's inclusion in the ashes.

I still don't know how they continue to play together.

I dont think there is a problem with Woakes and Archer now. I can understand him not wanting Archer in at the time but there is nothing he can do about it now. Don't forget Archer took a WOrld Cup winners medal off someone and a place in the Ashes. Hard to swallow for some ( not me! ). Now he is a team mate, end of I think.

With regard to bowling a thoroughbred like a carthorse.....something is very wrong! Maybe ||Root is desperate but that is being charitable. Keep your blade sharp!

no he didn't

he questioned whether it would be fair if archer was parachuted straight into the ODI team for the world cup
a team that was highly settled & number 1 in the rankings

a fair point

but the media being the media jumped on it, trying to cause friction within the squad

Thanks for the correction wonders.

When I heard him say what he said, I was surprised he was saying that in public. But the way you put it, it is quite possible he was just responding to the question.
