Thirty seven days have elapsed since the opening fixture of the 2019 World Cup and we have now arrived at the final group fixtures with the sixth Saturday double header.
After match 25, 21 games had been completed with 10 successful run chases against 11 victories for the team batting first.
In the subsequent 18 matches, the team batting second have been successful on just 3 occasions, giving a running total of 26 to 13 wins in favour of the side batting first.
So, is it really a case that all you have to do is win the toss and choose to bat to secure victory?
It is, of course, not possible to be definitive if this is the case or not.
However, both India and Australia have an opportunity to put their ability to successfully chase a total to the test in their respective matches today.
Given that there is a 50/50 chance that they will be required to bat second in their semi-finals, why not choose to chase today if winning the toss, safe in the knowledge that they will progress win or lose.
