Media waits for the governments approval to report information on issues like these. They always have an agreement in palce so that live reporting doenst interfere with police action. Under reporting the casualties is the norm.

There was a video when the news broke out of someone filming the police presnece. In that video one police car had rammed into a car that looked like the one this shooter had. Think they got him pretty quickly.
