FSHave you made an absolute killing on the draw? Haven't read posts so not sure if you've done your usual.
I’ve done okay. Had a very good day 1 and start to day 2 then lost a lot of my green chasing the draw with England collapsing but stopped, which at the time looked sensible but would eventually have worked exceptionally well. Had a lot of lays of England when WI second innings fell apart, which turned out well and have done some minor work since. Have:
WI £2.2k green
Eng £11k green
Draw £6.3k red

Hmm, for some reason I expected you be to xxk green on the draw .
I usually get comedy draw green in games where it goes to the moon but I didn’t this time, because I thought there was such little value and it felt like a game where there was every chance the draw just kept going out.

Yeah I saw that and that's why I thought, hoped(!), you may be in the same position.
I got a bit fed up with throwing good money after bad, to be honest. You expect this kind of thing in NZ but not elsewhere, although occasional Caribbean wickets do die so...

I've never really understood why you do it but then one odds swing like this would have vindicated it. Often the case though.
Well it’s worked very well in NZ. Depends on the context but you very often get draw odds bouncing back down very quickly after a wicket and one decent partnership can justify the last few backs, let alone the one after the last wicket. Problems are judging where to set your lays and that a running collapse ruins you.

I laid it at 6.2 last night and 5.6 today, I think.

Bit harsh. They were pretty awful, from selection on (Rashid, FFS, ahead of Broad) and the batting was shocking at times (although WI get a lot of credit for the bowling in the first innings especially. Still though, it’s one test and it’s not uncommon to get shellacked one game and win the next.

Once Jimmy and Broad retire Eng will be absolutely fecked
We’ve largely retired Broad already, for some reason including on a pitch that would have suited him, to allow us to play a floaty left armer (okay, I like Curran but really, not that much) and a leggie who’s not even reliably any good on rank turners. Chris Woakes, dodgy away record though he has, has every right to be well miffed too. He’s a bloody good batsman too, as well as a fine bowler.

Down to my last 5k from 100k bank after Sydney testJust been dissecting my p&l for the last 3 months.I've made 85k on tests since Nov 1st, the losses in T20s and ODIs are biblical.Didn't realise it was that much out of kilter. No huge losses chasing in any particular game, just lots of small losses. If I lose this I will have to dig into my last rainy day money of 50k. After that I'd have to live on some fixed income and that will be mean a complete change of lifestyle .Looks like I'm going to have to go tests only from now on.
Puts my £15k loss a couple of Mondays back and £10k today in context. I’ve not properly broken it down but I know that I’ve had an unusually bad run in tests, losing £15k total in the three SA Pak debacles (£8k of the 15 was that flat deck third test both sides collapsed on and the market knew it would happen, then they both scored heavily second innings just to rub it in once draw had died). I’ve actually been really good in T20s in that time. My football betting is usually good for a fairly steady stream of small to moderate wins and the occasional big to massive loss, as hit me both on the Monday in question and twice today. Was looking like I’d rebuilt quite nicely until today too. It happens.
Have you got longer term break downs? We know you’re good at tests but it could be you’re actually good at limited overs too, just overstaking recently coinciding with an unlucky run. Happened to me during my one real horror run in my career. Like you it was get a grand plus on a position, watch it fall apart within the next 3 minutes, for market after market. I was good enough to come back, so you definitely are. I did cut my limited over stakes back, just in time to start winning.

Heads should roll for that second inns batting performance.
In the first innings England were bowled out, with the odd exception. The pitch did plenty etc etc, but that second inns with weather incoming for day 5 was a national sporting disgrace!

It’s just modern test batting, where they feel the need to play low percentage attacking shots in a context where they should be primarily defensive. As I’d gone red on the draw that was good for me, although it’s obvious shafted me at other times.
