I will be opposing the Saffers here (already layed) and probably throughout the test series, using the yardstick of Eng who turned over Saffers  comfortably I reckon India can be competitive here.   Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami & Umesh Jadav are very decent...........and quick.   Historically Saffers are stronger away.

But don't India just lose when playing away apart from SL and Windies?

Yes they have struggled away but this Indian team looks different to me, Pujara and Rahane have scored runs in SA and I don't think Kohli will be all at sea like he was in Eng last time.   We Saffer layers dont need India to win, just be competitive and I reckon they will be.

Draw trading as per usual. Good bowling on both sides should ensure we don't get one. Weather mostly fine.

Only Australia has beaten SAF here in the last 15 years. Although, England and India have managed draws. Arguably, SAF aren't the team they were a few years ago, but still they will be tough to beat at home,

Vernon Philander looked overweight to me when I watched a bit of that Zimmers test match.  Looked anything but a finely tuned athlete, another reason to stick with my Saffer lay.  My mistake was laying too high. Mischief

Looking forward to this series, will be nice to have some test cricket on during daylight hours.
India notoriously poor travelers but this team looks better equipped than previous ones to win on foreign shores.
Big negative for me that India haven't played any warm up games, going to be very different conditions to the 50 matches they played vs SL recently
Hard to oppose SAF in this first test until I've seen India batting

Big Vern always looks overweight!
That won't stop him skittling India out for 100 if he gets bowling conditions in his favour

I think SA are a much stronger and more rounded team this time out if Steyn is Steyn.

Good bowling attack and some decent batsmen. I am intirgued how India will fare but not sure if they will stand up to SA.

I think it could be a good series.

I'll risk a few quid laying SA at this price. Unless India bat first and an almighty collapse I don't see how this bet loses. I'm not very good on test match betting though.

Laying Saffers was OK but lying them at 1.89 & 1.86 was not OK ....need the toss to favour India.

ive had a saffer lay at 1.72 so hopeful they win toss but not too worried as faff says
"As of now, the conditions that we found is, we are expecting that it will seam around a bit on day one. But days two and three are going to be very good batting conditions. We'll take a call tomorrow morning about the extent of moisture in the surface and we'll take it from there."

Saffers win toss and opt to bat.

This may not be a bad toss to lose for India.   But my Saffer lays were at a sickeningly high price, I'm stuck with them now.

serious question why would lay SA rather than just back india as surely a draw would look very unlikely? So if opposing SA you would just back india?
By:

When: 05 Jan 18 09:10
i layed em at the  start as wasnt entirely sure how the deck was so always try leave draw onside, but yeah now the draw looks dead
the draw is a crazt thing in tests so always good to keep a bit of green there
AB counter attack

Draw price can come in during a big partnership. I like to lay and keep 2 outcomes onside.
