Hey gents.  Turns out some of my draw trading has worked okay, although I seem to have lost my confidence recently and barely seem to get any money on cricket by previous standards, even tests, which I'm still good at. I almost entirley ignored the India SL game and only won a few hundred when it should have been a banker for thousands.

The draw spiked to over 6 on the 7th wicket, which felt rather high given that England had at least batted a lot of overs, even if all out for nothing further.  I only took a bit on though, as had already got some 4.4 before Woakes got out.  Anyway, very nice indeed to see Bairstow and Broad bat okay so far to bring it in.

Comms always results merchants.  For me, Woakes played a somewhat overly ambitious shot but he's a good batsman and he saw it full.  Sure it's been turning but that dipped on him and turned a mile - you can't entirely legislate for that.

Bad shot but I feel for Bairstow a bit too: batting with Broad and only Ball and Anderson to come you've got to suspect you'll get stranded and he's a naturally positive batsman.  If he'd nailed it we'd not have complained.

Was too ambitious trying to get the second tranche of my draw back at 5.9 off at 4.2, wasn't I?

I'm so bored of the narrative that Broad was a really good batsman before he got hit in the face and has been rubbish since.  Apart from the score against Pakistan and the odd other decent innings in his much earlier career, he's always been too loose for tests but occasionally gets quick runs because he's got a good eye and the basics of a good technique.

and lets just say there were shenanigans going on in that pakistan game, my nan could have got a fifty in that game and she's 82

For me this is a very long draw price and I'm going to take some more of it, although crossly, as if I'd got shot of that back at 5.9 I could take more on.  I don't think England will rattle through Aus on this, atlhough of course their batting is pretty dubious so it could happen.  Anyway, assuming it's hard to force wickets on a track doing nothing for quick bowling and even less for fast medium, you can see Aus batting until near the end of day 3 at least, possibly into day 4 and then any kind of start from Cook and Stoneman will see a very low draw price.  I'll be trading with it well before that, indeed through the Aus innings if awake, for sure, but the scenario is valid.

Yep and that's more of a worry with England posting an indifferent total but even if England ao 300 just after lunch; Aus 500 by close day 3, which is going some, the draw will hardly be dead.  The only way the draw totally dies is if Australia manage to collapse in a shocking heap and then England lose wickets steadily second innings themselves.  I'm not sure the market is quite getting that we've had 4 sessions go by already.

Now that's quite irritating but a brilliant catch.  Can't really blame the tail ender that much for playing into the trap.

Yes FS Draw may be my way back here from a very dodgy place here, I keep seeking encouragement from Pakistan here 12 months ago.  Although it was a day/nighter and wasn't a draw.   A few rain showers hopefully in the offing. Grin

A very long way to go yet.The draw never goes away and then it's gone.

Will be very difficult for England to win i think from here.

Fell asleep FFS!

They are supposed to have been practising against the short ball in the nets! The easiest was to play imho is a short step forward to off so you can spring back and or across if it is short or leg sidey. If you get the body inside the line it is easier to pull an duck if neccessary. At times they look like botles on a fnce in westerns!

Nice drop by Marsh, will do his confidence no harm at allWink

I don't know why the draw is around 6 here, even with rain in the offing.  This wicket isn't going to fall apart and be unplayable later on, although of course Lyon could destroy England second innings.  There's even some chance of Broad and Anderson getting another 15 or more.  Oh!

Still, did get a small tranche of draw off at 5.5.

Agre it's below par wsb.

300!

That will do. Hope it stays cloudy. Let battle be joined! Not unhappy with runs on the board. I hope Geoffrey is right about the pitch.

Interesting comment from Fleming, would England have taken this score at the toss
