I think they will have to score in excess of 350 to win today.
I would like to see England bat like this is a T20 certainly after 25 overs. They bat all the way. I notice Hazlewood has not been out once in 30 ODI matches! England biff all the way down. Might as well use that and put pressure on the bowlers by going after them, rather than looking good and elegant on a fast outfield but not scoring enough runs. |

They're doing just fine the way they're playing now WD.

Market surge on India

Noticed that Tom must be betting on Ashwin.

Had to have a top up

yes they are Charlie!
I wouldn't change anything now and let these two play their game but back in the hutch they should be thinking about tictacs. 300 is unlikely to be a game winning score. Even 350 might not be enough. The dew might not actually be a factor tonight but if it is then we will need more runs. What I mean is it is easy to think we are doing really well and stroll to 325, which, may or may not be a good score but the game has moved on particularly in India and on these pitches. We have not although at least we have ODI players in the team now! |

Keep going like this to 40 overs (around 250 at this rate) and then have a biff.
|
|
By:
Bear in mind, it's normally harder to score in the final 10 overs in the sub continent than other parts of the world
|
|
By:
Just don't want them to go gung-ho now and lose three quick wickets when they'd be playing catch up.
|
|
By:
No need to go gung ho, just accelerate naturally
|
|
By:
Not so easy against the spinners.
|
|
By:
That was daft

Need Roy to go on for a 150

It is a tough call tbf
These two bowlers are pretty canny and hard to get away and of course you do not want a new batsman coming in now but the game can be won and lost in these overs. the emphasis must be to get a run a ball at least and try to presure the bowlers into the odd bad ball. I haven't played the game properly in 3o years and it is not as easy as I describe but going down gamely is still going down. I want to see them push now! Kwaity post Mr 'Death the reverse sweep nearly gets him out but a four the next ball! These are the margins I guess! |
|
By:
with Buttler and Stokes fancy one of those will go big near the back end of the innings

Doh!

This is not as bad as it looks. It gives Morgan plenty of time to play himself in. He is a good pacer of an innings I will certainly give him that! We have a left right hand combination against the spinners. Roy's scoring rate was slowing up. Punch and get out!
|
|
By:
Poor decision, but Roy's done his job.
|
|
By:
RR going to slow down now, Root slow and Morgan a generally slow starter
|
|
By:
Absolutely Hamlin.
No point standing back and admiring your work he was done! I wonder what thought has been given to scoring areas against Jadeja and Ashwin? |
|
By:
There are some easy singles against the spin, just need to hit 5/6 of them an over and it puts pressure back on India to try something different

Fair enough Charlie
Not as easy to come in as I suggested but England lose many games in this period. |
|
By:
England hit their 1st 6 in the 22nd over, should tell you where this game is going. Playing 4 seamers on a small ground, with a quick outfield. England will need a minimum of 330-340 I would expect. Stokes and Butler to come with Moheen as well, but then we're down to to bowling all rounders, Woakes has struggled lately Abdul Rashid, will get you 30/40 and David Willey, who can hit a long ball. If we don't lose many wickets a score of 375 is well possible, but if we do a score of only 300 is also possible. Root needs to be there near the end.

Not wishing to criticise Morgan but I guess you can add Billings and Barstad to the side in place of Hales and Morgan. That would look pretty good to me. Just light on penetrating bowling but who else do we have!

|
By:
Need 320 min from here

By:
I reckon about 20 behind where they should be.

90 off last 10

Would be a good effort

The pitch may be more difficult than it looks. Nobody has managed to get on top of it and give it the charge.
Interesting to see what Dharwan and co make of it. They could make it look like a road with short boundaries! I think we are at least 20 behind too, which, is what I was saying earlier. We need to get a move on in the middle overs. So we shall see if they can charge from here with the biffers to come |
