For T3 and the rest of you Children out there TISWAS was a children's TV programme that ran on Saturdays mornings from 1974-1982.

One of Tiswas’s strengths was that it appealed to adults, too. More than 60pc of the audience were over 18 and Tiswas appreciation societies were soon launched. We even embarked on a sell-out tour of universities, always finishing our shows with The Bucket of Water Song.

I sometimes wondered what was it about the the sight of a bog breasted young woman throwing buckets of water over herself appealed to adults ( men ) at the timeWink!

Tiswas was constantly in trouble with the IBA [Independent Broadcasting Authority]. Most kids’ TV shows were educational but we were throwing buckets of water and flans around

I loved it. Great to watch on the sofa with a hangover too while waiting for the pub to open! oh Sally James!

What would you do for pictures? Internet streams?

Report VardonVoo. August 21, 2016 4:34 PM BST
T3 -it's pretty easy (and dirt cheap!) to make your own Biltong. Just fit a 40W bulb and a fan to a clear storage box with some holes bored in it for ventilation. You need some hooks too and a spice grinder. They have the fan/bulb kits on Ebay. You can then eat it as fresh or as dry as your patience will allow. A £10 hunk of silverside will make about five or six large steak-size pieces. That will last me at least a week or two. Obviously you can flavour it as you like. I usually add chilli flakes to the spice mix. I've tried mint sauce, Marmite, various marinades, red wine, oyster sauce, soy sauce,  garlic paste, etc. Just be careful not to oversalt the beef.
Report tomtimtum August 21, 2016 4:35 PM BST

Report VardonVoo. August 21, 2016 4:45 PM BST
It's the delay that's the killer. Sky via Virgin cable is a few seconds behind the action, so from another intermediary may be worse still. What's the delay like with an actual Sky dish?

It depends on where they're playing.
If a wicket falls then the market will have reacted just as the bowler bowls the ball for the most part, so I'd say 7-8 seconds?

Report tomtimtum August 21, 2016 4:48 PM BST
As I understand it, Virgin is a few seconds behind sky now whereas it used to be a second or two quicker
Report tomtimtum August 21, 2016 4:49 PM BST
10 seconds is fine for me as long as its consistent, I dont want it to be 30 seconds or a minute and I'm in a position where I'm guessing what's happening on the pitch when I place my bet
Report VardonVoo. August 21, 2016 4:52 PM BST
He doesn't mention it, but I always cut the steaks along the grain so when you slice the finished product you're cutting across it. What happens if you accidentally double space?
Report tomtimtum August 21, 2016 4:53 PM BST
If you double space then for some reason if someone tries to quote you their reply vanishes
Report VardonVoo. August 21, 2016 4:54 PM BST
I've had problems with vanishing replies anyway, sometimes even with incognito. Seems to be a cookie thing.
Report VardonVoo. August 21, 2016 4:58 PM BST

I wake up to this sh1t result. I was convinced SL were the bet of the century, considering the state of the pitch.
How did they knock them off so easily? Must have been w@nk bowling or defensive captaincy from Angela.Angry
Report detraveller August 22, 2016 12:49 AM BST
I thought they had a decent total. Managed to cut my losses when Finch fell. It may have been the quick innigns from Warner and Finch that made batting much easier. They did lose wickets at the end but I didn't watch the game so can only guess how big a difference Finch's innings made.

Do you leave the red exposed and go to sleep? How can you bet on a game when you are going to sleep through it?
Report pxb August 22, 2016 12:55 AM BST
