The Oval can be a high scoring ground, SAF scored 637/2 batting second not too long ago.
With the Ashes won, you'd hardly think England would order up a seaming deck for a dead rubber.
OTOH, both sides bowling has been rather better than their batting, and no significant rain in the forecast.
Draw back to lays have been the road to the poorhouse in this series, but this looks one to me with the draw at 4.5.

unless you have a world class attack you should not enforce follow on

far from being the archetypal enemy in this series the aussies have been absolute bosom buddies
Root has shone..i like Stokes also tho' he can try and be the hero a tad too much
Broad had one unbelievable egregious spell..Finn deserves kudos

test cricket is dying a slow death for teams like england and australia they dont seem capable playing a proper test match pace

I had an argument with someone who said Root is the best batsman in the world. I said no he wasn't. The bloke said yes he was. I said he was top of the ranking, that doesn't mean he is the best in the world.
I said AB is better, Hashim Amla is better. I also think Kane Williamson is better and possibly Virat Kohli. Steve Smith is very good but shouldn't bat at 3. I do think Root is good though. He just needs to work out a way of dealing with short pitched bowling.

am not his biggest fan but he has lead from the front this series in my view anyway. A real shame that. Would have set up a lovely finish if he had stayed for tomorrow

sorry to precipitate on your bonfire chaps but there is a greater likelihood of seeing The Spanish Infanta than the Spanish Plume. Typical dego manyana mentality ( no derogatory racist inference intended, some of my best friends would be Spanish if they could be bothered! ).

I really need the rain to give me an opportunity to mitigate my losses on Oz... I live 30 miles south of the oval and it's looking very heavy so hopefully rosebowls rain will move northwards smartish.

Without Broad's amazing spell Eng wouldn't have won that key TB test match. Top bowler of the series.
