At first I thought, Pak only needs a draw, so they will prepare an absolute road. But given Australia's middle order failure against spin, they may well go for a spinning track.
I'd say Clarke is key. If he fails again, then Pak win. If not a draw seems likely.
Once again the limited data show that the 1st of 4 Inns is the hardest for batting... 200 odd totals. Inns 2 & 3 highest of the matches.. Looking to back draw at max price somewhere on day1/2.

this is how you beat Australia ladies and gentlemen, prepare an absolute road of a pitch, bat for 2 days and then bowl spin
looks like I will be watching the grass grow for the next few days, this is boring as ****

Bad day for Australia - mediocre bowling, poor fielding. Aussies are a good side on a quick deck but
on these kind of tracks their record over the last few years is an embarrasment. Didn't find it boring
tho - loved watching Khan and Ali grind the Aussies down

Didnt see a lot of play last night, however what I did see was enough to change tack a little bit. Backed Pakistan at $3 and still think they are massive value. I fancy them to get to 550. Think the changes to the Aussie side places so much pressure on the Aus big 3, Warner Clarke and Smith. Will be keen to lay draw as it shortens below $1.50.

A result depends on the pitch days 4 and 5. If it doesn't break up then a draw seems likely.
I don't expect an Australian middle order collapse, but then I didn't expect the 2 collapses in the previous match.

A likely series win for pakistan would suggest bat until at least 650 runs, maybe more, and can not see them them enforcing a possible follow on unless aussie a minimum 300 behind, or not enough time left in match for pakistan to bat again

this is the flattest track I have seen us play on in a very long time
credit to the Pakis for doing what they have to do but let's be honest about this, that is as flat as they come

proud of the aussies, conditions obviously not suiting us, lost the toss on a road of a pitch but havent given up
easy for Haddin to pack it in and sit in the shed, hasn't done it

he is a seriously overrated cricketer. 3rd test match and tries to play a t20 innings and gets out going for a low percentage slog.

we are just cannon fodder in the sub-continents, can't play spin, can't cope with reverse swing, no above average bowlers to make something happen when nothing is in the pitch.. good thing we don't go there often

Dont think they enforce the follow on, draw going to get shorter. They are leading the series, with Aussie firepower I doubt Misbah would risk it, can only go wrong really.

The difference was, Aus were batting for a win (even though they shouldn't have after Warner went in the 2nd inn last test).
They shouldn't bat for a win here, which is not to say they won't.

I think people are scared Pakistan could fix something. That is the reason why Australia was "only" 28/1. Last ODI they managed to score a maiden in the last over to lose the match.

he had one lucky IPL, where his consistent slogging paid off.
he is sh1t at this level because he has no judgement. He's not all that in ODIs either. Quite simply the longer the format the more exposed he is, because it requires him to work out what to leave and what to hit. In t20 he doesn't make that distinction: he just tries to hit everything.
The decision to play him at 3 is one of the most idiotic I can remember from Australian selectors.

pretty embarrassing scenes, flogged comprehensively in both games
I would like to blame the pitch but quite honestly both teams batted on it and only 1 team was able to make runs, absolutely shambolic
a few of the selections make you wonder what the **** they were thinking, Glenn Maxwell is NOT a test match cricketer.. he's your run of the mill "show me the money" T20 player who cannot apply himself in tough conditions to do the right thing by the team, his first innings was absolute proof of that when he was well and truly in he plays a low percentage shot.. for what? a boundary? to be flamboyant?.. this is test match cricket, 30 off 20 is not good enough now nor has it ever been good enough in this format
full credit to Pakistan who outplayed us in every single facet of the game, we'll go home now and probably towel up India given they can't handle green tops and all will be rosy once again but I won't forget how embarrassing these 2 games were (thank **** there were only 2 games), from beating South Africa in South Africa to getting smashed in a 2 test series against Pakistan in Dubai on flat pitches, we may be #1 in the rankings but that's the only place we're #1 because as a fan I don't feel like I am supporting the best test cricketing nation in the world right now
disgusting

Pakistan continue to amaze and surprise. Amid the controversy, the jailed stars, their top man suspended and the inability to play at home, they still play the most incredible cricket.
Babar, the 35 year old magician. Yet another Pakistan tweaker who had to wait years before getting a gig. Ajmal was 30 when he made his debut..

I'll wait to see how NZ go against Pak, before passing judgment.
Clarke should take some of the blame for going for wins when the big Pak 1st inn scores meant the tactic was too risky and they should have batted for draws and put the pressure back on Pak.

Pakis will smash Kiwis, around $2 for first test is a gift. It's still winter conditions in NZ, barely getting above 20 degrees, will take Kiwis atleast a month to acclimatise to that heat. Not to mention Kiwis are like Ozzies, they have no idea how to play spin, and they don't have a decent spinner themselves now that Vettori is ****
That doesn't mean Pakis are any good, if they played three tests in Oz and three tests in NZ they'd lose 6-0 barring poor weather

Well Patel's been given chances before at test level and didn't exactly set the world on fire. Atleast Craig and Sodhi have a lot of years ahead of them
