In many ways he's a perfect number 4/5 consolidating in the middle overs nurdling the spinners about at 4 to 5 an over. Stokes has to go, and be replaced with either ravi or ali. Happily ditch one of Bell or Root and go with Vince/Taylor. |

England really have to wake up. Cook is just not fit for the job. He puts Hales under silly amounts of pressure. The need for an explosive start will be even greater in Australia. Open with Lumb. Bring Taylor into the middle order for Root and play Ali instead of Tredwell. Replace Stokes with Luke Wright or Ravi Bop.

I think you've got to stick with Root but get rid of Bell now and replace with Taylor.

whilst it was remarked that chris tavare was seen sagely nodding at cook's shrewd words, others who have happened to watch the occasional match being played outside of england in the last decade, were a little concerned by the england captain's assessment of what constituted a good start in the modern game. |
