England vs India 3rd Test - 27/7 to 31/7/14

pxb.................you say'India played poorly'. I can't make my mind up whether Vijay Dhawan and Pujara played poorly or whether they are just not good enough. I thought the 3 of them were showing promise but now beginning to doubt whether any of them are going to be anywhere near good enough. Sehwag, Gambhir and Tendulkar are proving an impossible act to follow.

What has shocked me this test match have been the performance of the senior players Kohli, Rahane and Sharma, their performances have been nothing short of a disgrace. I hope England win today for no other reason than it will show the Indians that whoever the opposition is you still have to graft and work hard and fight to get any kind of result in a 5 day Test match.

Well,

I opposed England from the start quite rightly I think.  Mistake was not guaging pitch correctly at start of play day 1. My usual modus is to lay the team batting second but India had shot out by then.  Laying England and batting the draw was not a bad strategy and I still think that.

The game was lost when India were about 210-4. Moen Ali bowling just before Tea I think to Rohit who drives a half volley to extra. Then straight after tea Rahane pulls a long hop straight up in the air to Young Terry. A decent partnershp from those two and I think India bat long enough first innings to deprive England time to force a result.

I thought England were much better from the start. Captain Co ck went on well after being dropped.  His foot movement was much better and when he scores runs England do not usually lose.  Anderson at last bowled a decent length and his line was better too.  Broad supported and India batted woefully. That was the game.

My solace is that I had an opportunity to correct my "mistake" and took it with both hands staring down a big loss to end up with a £3.81 profit for 5 days work. Rule 1 stay in the game.

Looking forward to the next test.

Started off with a lay of England too and ended up with a net loss for the second game running. Losing my touch obviously.
