Market fixated on this rain over the weekend. Draw probably safest bet of the 3 at this point imo. India winning toss will play into hands of draw as basically they're conservative and able to bat. If Eng win toss things might get more interesting.

Agreed but this is not a team, they play like a group of individuals with no game plan. Even when bowling they each do their own thing

he has to be dropped. injured (and i suspect he's lying about it to the side), weak keeping and doesn't deliver when it matters with the bat. there was no good reason to select him after dropping him over the winter.

Imo, this is hoorendous management from moores and co. They have obviously at lunch said to take the short ball on, and ultimately this has cost us a chance of winning the game.
Time - in fact well over time to flush things out. New capt, Cook out completely, drop Prior, bring in two spinners to alternate until you find which one will be the most consistent.
Since when do India win Test matches away from the sub continent? England must be really crap.

apologies for repeating myself, but even if we'd shown some fight in Australia last winter, we probably would have lost the series. We were outbowled and the convicts had way more hunger.

Nothing wrong with Root he just panicked as it was all on his shoulders then.

The modern batsmen would do well to have a look at Bradmans batting . He seldom hit sixes , which is what a few have tried to do in the last 30 minutes . Most of his scores he got as the result of hitting the ball low or into the ground , fielders in the deep rarely got a chance to dismiss him like happened to Prior and Root and Stokes , all caught , hari kari !
come on Dhoni - get the new ball and bowl some line and length - I need this over before 250 !

The buck stops at the captain for the inept batting, if it was the strategy, then just ridiculous, if Cook did not discuss tactics with the players then equally as bad

The frustrating thing is that every player in the team apart from Cook had produced a really good batting performance in the last 12 months. The problem is that they usually produce a really awful one next innings.
Can't believe it Cook still not jumping - he's now becoming selfish because he knows that someone else would be scoring more runs !

I don't think there is too much choice - probably Bell until Root has a bit more experience but Root is surely the long term option. In terms of batters just about anyone else would do better. I thought Compton was hard done by.
Just had a quick look,and unless Im mistaken, after this series weve got no away test series this winter, then just two tests at home to New Zealand before the start of the next Ashes.

Peter Moores just spewing out the same old company line. When will England employ someone who will not only back themselves to bring in new talent but clever enough to realise that talking bollox is just insulting the fans. It's alright saying Cook has to go back and do the work but we have been hearing this for a year or more - It AINT WORKING - CAPISH ?
Nothing for Clarke/Johnson and Australia to worry about at the moment (although it's a year away).
England have to get rid of Cook and they have to employ a specialist spinner. Everyone can see that but the mug selectors and the coach.
Nasser was spot on, would England miss Cook as a captain, the answer is no, still play him but let someone else do the job.
Monty was playing for Essex the other day, maybe he has sorted his stuff out, and yes compton looked reasonally good, what happened to jordan, he batted and bowled really well last test
Maybe they should allow Cook to stay on as a batsmean for a couple of tests to see if the release of pressure makes a difference but I wouldn't give him too long. Everyone knows how to get him out, everyone knows how to get Prior out. Root, Moeen and Ballance have been good. Bell has been a tad unlucky, Robson has been good.
Yes, cook should stay until end off series, Stokes and prior out, jordan and butler in, not sure about broad, maybe jordan straight swap until he sorts his injury out, maybe a bopara call up

Youknow things must be bad when demands come in for Bopara call up -
unfortunately things can not be any worse for English cricket at the moment, so anything goes 
buttler is not a test class wicketkeeper or anything approaching it.....chris read is your man
oh the wicket maybe flat first up because of the heavy roller. If India go up then jump on it more I say!

In my view the emphasis on c rap cricket ie 20/20 and limited overs has resulted in a host of inadequate batsmen who are incapable of batting defensively. Very little chance of England holding out and avoiding defeat.
Says it all...until we go back to elevating county cricket and stop all this bish bash nonsense little hope for improvement.
