Do you think Sachin did so well versus others in his generation because he was one of the few who didn't throw his wicket or get run out on purpose ?
By:
very hard to say there was alot of dodgy matches during that time and before that

Hard to say Slip,
You have to remember that when i started watching cricket it was exclusively on the BBC and only England home games till Sky. I would say IVA Richards was something special. People forget pitches are so flat these days. Batsmen tend to rule the roost now and most people look at averages. I actually liked Rahul Dravid more than Tendulkar. Kallis figures speak for themself but he never seemed to take games by the scruff of the neck like a Lara or Ponting or save games like Dravid. I have a strange prejusdice against kallis for some reason I don't know why. Tendulkar while a master batsman has had a long long career. He is probably the most complete player but I don't think i would call it between him and Lara. Ponting close behind but Vivian is up there with any of them. I don;t think i could argue the case for any of them exclusively, just a joy to watch all of them. |

All time slip,
None mentioned! After Bradman we had Headley, Hammond and I think many others. |
By:
Like Hobbs,Ponsford,Trumper and W G Grace. Who was as far ahead of his contemporaries as Bradman was his.

Viv Richards for me,the way he took to the field with such class and swagger was theatre in itself.walked on like he owned the place and most of the time he did.
good point WD about the pitches too. |

big session here for Dharwan, Sun is out, short square boundaries and a slope. He could take the game away from England on his own and even Geoffrey is on him today

By:
it must be bloody annoying to be a bowler on these flat lifeless pitches
By:
I missed out on 6's to my chagrin! very annoyed at myself for that and backing the draw for some mindless reason at 2.bloody74 so am hoping final session is rained of to equalise my oppose England position.

By:

By:
India got up to about 9's yesterday - I got some at 6's and some at 4's. Anybody's game though. I would happily take 130/2 at tea

that was just as well for England. it could have run away from them with Dharwan looking dangerous.
By:
anybody know why England are still favourites?
