I can't understand why they would play Binny instead of Ashwin. They could play Binny at Lords
|

By:
Yes, England will probably have at least one partnership to drive draw price lower, but feel the current price is not indicative of the final result

Draw train starting up again. Should I stay or should I go?

Think draw should shorten quite a bit tomorrow. Sub 1.3. Then days 4 and 5 with no real spinners in the match doesn't look good for a result. Especially as India will be happy with a draw 1st game.

Got to make a decision. Cash out now for negligible loss or hold on for some fun? I think the golden rule is not to lose money so may well cash out and have the chance to come back in later. There is the obvious chance of early wickets tomorrow morning but if they do not materialise then I might have to cop out for a bigger loss. Three whole days to go here but cash in bank is better than a large green on screen. Confused.com will think about it overnight.

traded out of India, more chance of Eng getting a 100+ lead and winning from here imo.
Gl. |
|
By:
a 100 lead will take around 160 overs, so nearly 2 days and apart from Broad and Anderson, we don't have the bowlers to bowl India out on the final day. I doubt that we will get a 100 lead, as we just don't get 1st innings scores of 400
|
|
By:
It's quite possible that England will end their first innings 100 short. It's in India's court to take them out in 120 overs now so they can re-establish a winning lead by the final session day 4. Market has made the draw favourite because of the way the pitch is playing but will it change over the next three days? We shall see.
|
|
By:
It is definatly, going to be a bit easier to get wickets, the longer the game goes on and batting won't be easy on the final day, so unless England can get a decent lead, it will be they, that are batting on the final day

I am still confused. 3 days to go but the draw train has set off and there are no breaks on it. If I don't cut and run now I will make a big loss. I still have an inclination that 3 days in Test cricket can still be a long time. Discretion must be th better part of valour though as the pitch shows no signs of crumblimg. I think a determined batsman can stay in for a long time if he isn't looking to score runs.
I have decided to wait till around 10am and look at the live feed from the ground. If it is cloudy I may hold on a little longer but if it sunny then I am out. I will look for the usual over reaction and if the draw or India goes comedy too early I shall dip a little pinky in to keep interested. At the end of the day this is about making money and not showing how big your cajones are ( mine being quite small right now as I didn't lay England at 3's yesterday! ). |
|
By:
I feel confused too. Weather bets are off - forecast clear now. 3 days is a long time I agree. Experience tells me to lay my draw bet at these prices. Still, the pitch is a flat one. Day 5 minefield???
|
|
By:
No guarantee that day 5 will be a minefield PJ, difficult yes.
I think now we are also trying to second guess the market and hope it gets spooked. Probably be better to be out than in right now to take adavantage of any over reactions. I think I am going to sacrifice most on India green to cover the draw. I will increase the red on England. Should the draw go down to far too quick I can come back in to oppose it at more favourable terms and then, even if it eventually does go against me, my rectum will remain intact. I think if I was on the draw i would let it ride right now. Quite possibly all the way down to 1.3 then take some Health Insurance. Still waiting for ground pictures to make my mind up. |
|
By:
Have trimmed my liability on the draw a bit. Essentially backing to lay if the price comes in significantly.
The draw price could quickly move either way depending on events during the next hour of play. |
|
By:
I don't see how England can win. Been laying them from the start and huge red on them but comfortable with it.
1. They get a 100+ lead? Unlikely 2. They get bowled out a 100 short. more likely 3. They then have to take 10 wickets again cheaply. unlikely 4. And then chase a score when the pitch may be favorable for the bowlers. 5. possible chance of rain. The general feeling surrounding this England team at the minute suggests they don't think they can win either. Big lay for me. |
|
By:
Despite the 100% cloud cover draw train should continue today.
May even follow my rule of greening up day 3 if you can and walk away. SL SAF test not far away. Now all we need is for bf to put up the market. |

England still looking like we need a spinner.
India look like they'll attack the spinner whoever it is. Is there perhaps an argument to play a white-ball spinner to contain the runs? Not my choice, but does anyone think this? Like Briggs or Tredwell? I certainly wouldn't go this way. Ali was picked to provide control with the ball. But he's been going at nearly 6 an over. If a spinner is leaking runs they might as well take wickets. Like Borthwick who can bat, take wickets and field. Kerrigan fielding is encouraging. A promising spinner. But the argument will be is that India will attack him whatever and perhaps we'll get an Oval repeat. And he doesn't offer much with bat or in the field. As I'm watching, Kumar and Shami don't look like getting out. Please, not another Tino Best or Ashton Agar. But I guess it might encourage England because they still have to bat twice. |
|
By:
IF England bat all day today and most of tomorrow they'll have 100+ lead.
if they can then can bowl India out cheaply Eng could be chasing 100 for a win... not really expecting the above to be honest, but its the only value left in the match,. Gl. |

Book, a little green with them going to step back India at the drifting odds Cloud cover has me on high alert and i want to be with the wickets if it appears to be a bowlers morning |

![]() I think there is some chicanery or tom foolery going on here. When i first saw that poat I think it may have been attributed to someone else. When I reread it the post appeared to be from House. The " we " caught me out so I didn't understand the significance of the English. Upom reinspection it would appear someone has just obtained a Degree in English from the University of Nottingham or maybe Housefull is with MI5 Counter Intelligence and broke cover ![]() |

There is a good reason, why we haven't got a decent spinner and that is, that we start the County Championship, early in April, well there is little need for a spinner in England in April/May. This is the time of year for spinners in England and we are more worried about T20 games, which mean very little. Now I have got that rant out of the way, because t20 is the biggest crowd drawer, apart from Test Cricket, we have to play t20 in mid summer, so the counties, get much needed income into their coffers

There will be a chance for some wickets after lunch, india lost Pujara and Kohli after first day lunch and lost Jadeja,Dhoni,Binny,Ishanth after second day lunch, the first day it was good bowling and second day it was poor batting by India, ,I think today also there will be the same chance to reverse the ball after lunch and Shami can utilise this time

If England can get to lunch, just 2 wickets down, then I think the match can only go one way
|
|
By:
I disagree cricknut. the game can change quickly at any time. if the cloud cover gets lower, the ball reverses significantly. India will be bowling at the stumps sow low bounce will come into it. Not saying the draw train is going to be stopped but 3 days is a long time.
I have decided to hold on to India for now. If there are no wickets England will fall and I can lay them off to cover my draw red. |
