Laid  the draw.

Weather looks good all 5 days, although this is England so need to keep an eye on the forecast.

Lords normally produces a result when it doesn't rain.

Didn't follow the ODIs, but looking at the results, both teams blew hot and cold. So, if I had to pick a winner, I'd say SL on price.

This'll be the worst possible result for Captain Cook. Had it been 2 or 3 down, everyone would say fair enough, flat track.
Being 8 or 9 down though, the knives will be out.

shudda put it in earlier, anticipating someone trying to hoover up
Report sideshowbob June 16, 2014 6:52 PM BST
i used to do that on the nfl.

often a field goal would be kicked last seconds, players celebrating and someone slamming in a fortune at 1.01. then turns out the other team called a timeout before he kicked it!
Report Whisperingdeath June 16, 2014 6:52 PM BST

Report cardshark June 16, 2014 6:55 PM BST
Cook's poor captaincy cost the match - clear as day. He should step down now - no excusues.
Report judorick June 16, 2014 6:56 PM BST
two umpiring decisions in final over, both wrong
Report nicky27 June 16, 2014 6:58 PM BST
you often need the 2nd new ball to bowl a team out , so i think cook was right in declaring overnight , 90 overs still not enough though , needed 91 Grin
Report Whisperingdeath June 16, 2014 6:59 PM BST
Thats harsh Card even if true,

I think he has bigger problems with his batting and moving his front foot!
Report judorick June 16, 2014 7:01 PM BST
would have been far more than 90 overs if the umpire had got the 9th wicket decision right
Report nicky27 June 16, 2014 7:02 PM BST
herath shouldnt have walked though jud , so theres just as much blame on him as there is the ump
Report Whisperingdeath June 16, 2014 7:04 PM BST

It demonstrates his weak leadership - frightened to pull the team off and declaring because someone is reaching a milestone - if he had put SL in last night and had another 15 overs to play with there's no doubt in my mind it would have been a win. If you ain't scoring runs as a capt you have to be an amazing capt.

Report judorick June 16, 2014 7:04 PM BST
he wouldn't have walked if the ump got the decision right

it was like he was trying to get England the win, seeing he missed a big inside edge too in the same over and gave lbw
Report nicky27 June 16, 2014 7:06 PM BST
umps make mistakes , thats why we have the review system , i bet herath will stay in the middle from now on until they drag him off, every time the umps fingure goes up Grin

yeah sharkey , but england scored 88 runs in the last 15 overs of their second innings ,390 to win in 90 overs is alt different from 302 to win in 105 overs eh

Report judorick June 16, 2014 7:10 PM BST
2 blatant mistakes in the same over when the home team needs two wickets to win? pffffft

very very very fishy and fcuking outright wrong
Report mafeking June 16, 2014 7:10 PM BST
the ludicrous decision by steve davis not to give the prior catch out cost england badly. probably cost them 20 or 30 overs
Report joe39 June 16, 2014 7:26 PM BST
Highlights on Channel 5 now for those who missed it.
Report nickwin June 16, 2014 11:25 PM BST
I don't understand why on the 5th day you carry on past 6.30pm to ensure 90 overs get bowled, but in days 1-4, 6.30pm is the cut off point and those overs not bowled are lost???  May as well play until 7pm to get the overs in if the light is fine!

and don't hear fines being dished out for slow over rate too often, but surely this should be clamped down on more heavily...

Think it was 17 overs that weren't bowled over days 1-4, which could say ultimately cost England from winning the test!
