Read about Sir Garfield Sobers, didn't realise he was born with 6 fingers both the left and right hands. Interesting.

Didn't see a lot of Keith Miller, Trueman, Clive Lloyd, Garfield Sobers....these historical players, want to do some more research and look into the history of the game of cricket, it's such a rich game full of tradition.

Sir Frank Worrell, Richie Benaud as well. If you guys have any suggestions on other players (from earlier generations) let me know I'll look into them.

I wasn't fortunate enough to live in the 70's and beyond but the more research you do into the game, the more appreciative you are of the game. Cricket today is a lot more stronger, in fact, I think it can be the number 1 sport in the world one day. Mainland Europe, South America, USA, China are the major markets that need to be tapped into but it can easily overtake Soccer provided the administrators make right decisions and plan right in future.

The guys playing in the 70's and 80's were earning no way near the amount of money players are making today, dare I say it, possibly the standards were better, the commitment to win was more and they would play with their hearts on their sleeves.

i very much doubt cricket will overtake soccer as the number one sport in the world ...its colonial roots run deep and much as i'd be happy to see cricket take off all around the world , i cant see it ever becoming most popular sport in the world

The big markets that remain unconquered are USA, China and mainland Europe. Look at the amounts bet on here on Betfair, more people become interested in the sport with influxes of money coming in. Give it time but possibly have to start small and work way up, like an Olympics and build from there
