Feel like UWA was a place where the 'poshy' students hung out especially the undergraduates. If you weren't from their social inner circle you would get ignored.

Its the first question the undergraduates ask 'what school did you go to?' Its a question that can determine a lot, especially in a place like Perth....where it's so small

there is a big divide in perth between upper class, upper middle class, middle class, working class and poor

but yeah came from a working class ......not a nice feeling when you get shunted, ignored. People put too much emphasis here on what school you went to...go to any Big 4 company, Mining company, look at all the doctors/dentists...look at the schooling they did. If your not from a big school you aren't go to get up that corporate ladder/social circles in Perth

People here and I think generally speaking in WA, is people also 'look down' if you work too hard...........there has to be that balance between 'Lifestyle V Money' not 'Make $$$$ money & No Social Life' OR "No Money & High social Life'. It's a place where 'casual racism' is accepted part of society, racist but friendly 'banter' jokes is seen as acceptable

In all honesty, you can be wealthy, you can have a good car...but if you put say a school like 'Mirrabooka Senior High School' , 'Girrawheen Senior High School', ' Morley Senior high school' you are 100% sure you won't get a job based on where you live........straight away when people identify those school names, they think of 'bogans'
