4.25 pm Abhishek Purohit, who's reporting for us from Hamilton, says the weather had improved, but then it swiftly took a turn for the worse and it's raining pretty steadily right now.

Duckworth Lewis will favour NZ here, as they have only lost 2 wickets so far in this total

d/lewis wickets  left come into play at end of innings i still believe , and barely adds anything to the totals.

not sure how NZ go about this innings now? Surely they want to preserve wickets, instead of going all out attack? Think the showers will be coming and going throughout game

In setting the target, 290/3 could be better than saying scoring 300/9

5.05 pm The cover on the pitch is being removed, so it can't be too long before New Zealand resume their innings. Stumps being put back in too ... but the skies are much gloomier than they were this morning

5.20 pm It's still raining I'm afraid. And it picked up in intensity so the main pitch cover came back on, and the ground staff have gone off the field.

If they came on now, am I right in saying the maximum they could go up to is 6.15pm?
By:
West Coast Eagles
When: 22 Jan 14 04:30
Because its now 5:30PM..........as if the groundsman can clear all of this in 45 minutes. It will take at least 15-20 minutes for them to remove the covers, + 10 minutes to work out the calculations of the overs reduced.

When: 22 Jan 14 04:38
take all the innings runs over 275 then west obviously calc for overs reduced should already have been worked out so say 15 to get them back on max 7-8 overs

I wonder what NZ's approach will be. Will they go for runs or look to retain wickets?
By:
West Coast Eagles
When: 22 Jan 14 04:46
5.40 pm If there is no more rain between now and then, the cricket will resume at 6pm and we'll have a 42-over game.
By:
gnashersblackpool
When: 22 Jan 14 04:47
they go for runs, preserving wickets is only worth a couple of runs. 260 for 3 isnt better than 275 for 9. reduced powerplay still to come as well.
By:
peter64
When: 22 Jan 14 04:47
perhaps over calc 3h 45 mins left short break between innings 10 mins 3 35 play 52 overs nz 16 left so 66-52 14 som 7 overs lost per side nz 9.4 left to bat all guesswork
By:
West Coast Eagles
When: 22 Jan 14 04:48
Dinner Break at 6.57pm 30 min break Play to resume at 6pm
