I've done the same pxb, day 4 could be wet too. Got burned in the last test for laying NZ so hope to be sharper on reversing positions if required this time.
Agree too regarding Jo'burg. |

You never know with the weather in Hamilton though. They can get those late afternoon thunderstorms as well. But I am going on the draw for a little bit and then seeing how this eventuates. IF NZ bat first it would seem to be a "safe" strategy initially anyway and there is a 50% chance of that happening. Looks like Monday could be a bit of rain and Thursday may be interrupted by showers. Shillingford is out for the WI as he has been banned for "chucking". betcha he would have been fine if he came from India, Bangladesh or Pakistan. Oh well.

Predictions are for a green seamer. Narine in it appears. Anderson has injury concern.
Weather has improved day 5, but NZ forecasts often change 5 days out. |
By:
Have backed NZ to kill the red I had on them as the weather forecast has improved. Very exposed on WI though but a quantum shift is needed in their play to have any chance of winning.
By:
Win toss and bowl venue. NZ win toss and I'd be surprised if they don't win inside 4 days. Which makes day 5 forecast moot.

Radio Sport today was saying showers (but play) on day 1 and 2
Radio Live NZ was saying 'Fine' for day 1 and rain on day 2 Honestly the forcasters out here have the toughest job and rarely get it right We'll get close to the full 450 overs if it goes that far McCullam said on radio the team is unchanged and that Ryder will make his comeback in ODI series Shillingford is Banned so Narine will play |

I will attempt to give you guys some weather info as it arrives as well. Cannot promise I will be here all days or all times but am looking to be here tomorrow morning with info as I see it. I just have a funny feeling that it may be a bit more difficult for NZ this test match, but then again what do I know, I picked the last one wrong as well.

By:
thank you Tyco

Current forcast for both Auckland and Hamilton are morning showers turning fine.
In Auckland at 6.30am it looks like no showeres and an absolute belter of a day. NZ Herald reporting that Hamilton pitch is not as green as last two pitches and that runs should be available more easily |
By:
a bit of overnight rain in Hamilton, the grass is wet they say but the sun is shining and it looks like play will start on time.
By:
looks like the market is loving NZ again and that is no surprise. After the way the WI dismally collapsed twice in Wellington I would not like to back them either. Someone in that team is going to have to stand up. Weather is good btw and I do not expect any rain at all today.
By:
steam roll into kiwis then for me.
rain might not be a worry if test is over inside 360 overs. if it is a win toss and bowl first pitch if kiwis could win their first toss of the series they may only have to bowl once. west indies test record is pretty much pathetic and the way they played last match even worse, no shillingford to boot. looks like the match only goes one way to me baring weather or something magical from wi |
By:
nz win the toss and bowl
By:
Looks like the WI could be 4 down by lunch. With Boult and Southee operating in humid conditions with the new ball on a day 1 pitch I would be worried if I was the WI.
By:
no Bravo for the WI, wow. Edwards to bat at 3
By:
Bravo out
By:
Thanks Tyco. Market only reacted when toss on cricinfo. got some NZ at 1.69.
By:
well done pxb, this will be interesting anyway to see how the WI bat in this innings.
By:
If the WI can survive the first few overs though it could see the draw come down quickly.... I am thinking the draw will contract more than the WI price.
By:
Looks like some showers on the way. I'd like the draw into the 3s to improve my book.
By:
if it is a win toss and bowl first pitch if kiwis could win their first toss of the series they may only have to bowl once.
what you mean windies to win by an innings? |
By:
Yeah i was wondering about that comment too.... :) NZ already complaining about the ball and the box of balls being brought out. No swing I suppose so they were not too happy with that. THis does become farcical though.
By:
no movement and not as quick as wellington so to see from the first few overs. Looks like Powell got one in the nads.
By:
Agree. Never liked this changing the ball nonsense, but after 3 overs is a joke.
By:
Market has little faith WI can keep this up. 39/0 and still at 6.
By:
41/1 Powell out
By:
WI one wicket down.
One more and their price will be 10s. Market seriously out of wack IMO. |
By:
Can see WI getting a decent score here. 350 maybe.
By:
wkt turning a bit on day one, if windies get 300 i think will be competitive as playing 2 decent frontline spinners
By:
yeah I think market is out of whack too but that is what I thought last game too. But NZ resorting to a part time spinner before lunch? And the WI do get to bowl last on this pitch with a few spinners.
By:
maybe, think the wkt will get slower and lower as well, which should suit the windies, but they need some runs on the board first
By:
What price WI all out 350 tomorrow lunch?
NZ 2.5 WI 5.0 Draw 2.5 ???? |
By:
agree on draw think NZ a bit short though as batting last
By:
Bob: "Very generous of the groundsman to provide some West Indian type conditions for the visitors."
cricinfo quote, has a point though |
By:
I am changing my view on this. Have seen enough. WI could be very dangerous with their spinners days 4/5 etc. They just need to get enough runs on the board.
By:
your right, NZ a bit short WI a bit long on 350. But that said the overs/unders are at a score of 315 atm so that is closish....
By:
lay new zealand is the bet i think
By:
narine has a very good record against them
By:
new zealand overrate very good aint it guys
