not always. it's 150 runs if the first days play is washed out.

BJT , cunninplan would definitely parachute Trevor Bailey in for tonight . Not sure if England have a couple of diggers in . Kevin is best when taking the bowling apart , cant see that on the agenda tonight , although it would be compulsive viewing if it happened . Stokes an unknown quantity to me if it gets down to him early . Root has 200 in him as he has proved on at least one occasion . Tonight might be another step in his young career .
England bat well into the tail . Think they will still be around at the crease at end of day 3 , in which case its a draw unless some unknown element pops up . Thats what make opinions and betting interesting ! |

I don't think they should be looking to bat for 2 days as much as to bat positively as opposed to aggressively. It is a big chance for several batsmen to lay down markers and cement their places for the rest of the tour. They must have a game plan for their scoring area's and weak areas. They must also consider how to play each bowler, where to score, how to defend and how to take advantage of the short boundaries and attacking fields. Playing out maidens will be fatal. Rotating the strike for the easy singles on offer is an obvious starting place.
Keeping the scoreboard moving is important in that the batsmen must keep Harris and Johnson honest. There is an attritional element to the long game, which, is currently pointless as they will be out of the game altogether should they not show some individual and collective fight. |

The English team have ignored my pre-Agincourtesque exhortations earlier in this thread and they are just not up for it. "Stiffen the sinews..etc.?" Hardly; they spilled several easy catches to the tune of some 270 or so runs.

all good common sense WD, but at odds with your previous post of 11.37 which i feel is closer to the mark
they may have their plans and they may even be right, but they need to bring success otherwise the belief becomes seriously challenged and doubt becomes endemic. mentally they are very very close to melting down. there is one last opportunity today otherwise this tour is over. the bowling in the last 40 mins of the first session yesterday was as close to mental bewilderment as i've seen from this side. quite why our best bowler only bowled 3 overs in that session and 7 overs in the day before the 9th wicket stand started, still remains a mystery. |

News out of Buckingham Palace, if the boys can win a session this tour they will still be knighted, that's got to take a load off

Rooty and carberry for tons ,Root another big ton.
250/1 back in the game make bout 475 east enough. Bowl them out for 175 .win by 4/5 wkts. Aussies very fragile and if the Mitch sprain is fact they will fall to pieces. |
By:
Hard to argue with that, I would say Cook has the Aussies right where he wants them
By:
Jermaine I love your thoughts.Hope you're mystic
By:
England will give a good account of themselves today!
By:
I agree with just win, Bell will make as many as he wants here
By:
does the aussie betfair do the in play cash out?
By:
Pitch is a road. No excuses for England to pile on the runs (my back pocket is hoping).
By:
As we saw in the Aussie innings play your shots and get full value, no need for England to force the issue, never will they get an easier time of it, play each ball on its merit and stay in as long as you like IMO

By:
Free lay of the draw for about 20 mins or so I'd say........will move in obviously but very very little....significant jump if early wicket
By:

......need to get back in and wait in the long grass for later |
By:
