Listened last week, and this, to this phone in. It's not good listening.

Really inane stuff.

i'm from Sheffield myself, and would normally shout from the rooftops an ashes winning captain is from my city. However, the man is a complete top hat.
Report elisjohn August 11, 2013 8:57 PM BST
horrible attitude.
Report toffee87 August 11, 2013 9:20 PM BST
I've enjoyed listening to him on TMS - certainly better than what Sky have to offer
Report CorridorofUncertainty August 11, 2013 9:57 PM BST
not my favourite but his CV aint bad. Very much loves being part of the in crowd. But then again hes an Ashes winning captain and most people are not.

Thank you'll find a few more genuine contenders for that title to be fair..Rooney being a fine example.

Have you ever met the guy and spoken to him at length??? No, well until you have, you have zero idea of what you're on about.
I have and he's a hell of nice guy, great player and very knowledgeable about the game, I spoke to him at length when he was over here for the ashes series at a betfair function in Perth prior to the WACA test.
Report Jontyblade August 12, 2013 8:25 PM BST
I know he was born in eccles Guinness... but he's quite keen on his Sheffield roots

Vaughan was a great captain, and I find him a very good commentator - surprised to see this thread to be honest
Report cdog August 12, 2013 10:59 PM BST
Top guy and I enjoy him on TMS. Rather him than Geoff Boycott who just repeats the same stuff over and over!!
Report JustWinBaby August 12, 2013 11:17 PM BST
Much better than Boycott

I like listening to both Vaughan and Atherton.  I think they are insightful and have opinions I respect.

I heard him on six duck six.  He is new to that type of forum but I liked his combative style.  Sometimes people talk crap and I don't mind someone like him giving it back.

People think they can have a free swing at players after listening to some so called expert on the tv or in the papers parrot those vitriolic personal attacks.  Vaughan was a bit hard countering some idiot who said KP should be dropped.  It was a lumpen riposte and I squirmed along with Alec Stewart but I have had enough of football fans thinking they can roast a referee or player without stating their case and nobody questioning them.  I don't want cricket fans crucifying Umpires or taking up Jouralist's vendettas against certain players and am glad Vaughan took up the cudgels!.

I like Geoffrey.  He is the best!

elisjohn,

why is Michael Vaughan the biggest prat in sport?
Report gosmash August 13, 2013 9:56 AM BST
elisjohn. How do you get to the stage where you hate someone who i imagine you have never met , let alone done you any wrong ? Btw no opinion on the guy either way, just curious.
Report jed.davison August 13, 2013 11:07 AM BST
Got no real opinion on Vaughan, he's new to the game, bound to be some rough edges.

Boycott though, what a man - should stand for Parliament.

I also think that TMS should be on every day, regardless of whether there is a cricket match on or not.
Report sageform August 13, 2013 12:41 PM BST
After Agnew he is now my favourite on TMS. Great sense of humour and talks sense as well. I do think that it's sad that the last 5 England captains are finding nothing better to do than commentate on cricket. Which one is going to adopt the Seb Coe role and lead the sport out of the 20th century.
Report DStyle August 13, 2013 2:16 PM BST
probably when there's the financial incentive to do so.
Report mikeycoxn1 August 13, 2013 10:50 PM BST
I also think Vaughan is superb, tells it like it is and gets Geoffrey and Blowers going.

He is a grafter I noticed as he does the pitch report for C5/ TMS first thing, then on Comms all day, C5 7-8 TV show, then he does 6 duck 6 or the Vaughan and Tuffers show till after 9 o clock so fair play as ye never hear him moaning.

Loved his 'I'm not having that', when KP came out swinging against Lyon in the 4th test.
Report jed.davison August 14, 2013 2:41 AM BST
If people were willing to pay me to talk about cricket from dawn to dusk, I would also be a "grafter"
Report toffee87 August 14, 2013 9:06 AM BST
agreed - its not exactly work

I was at the OT test from 9.00 each morning til 6.30 and all I did was talk about cricket and I had to pay £55 for the privilege and take time off work !
