South Africa without Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn.

Pakistan made a meal of batting against a great West Indies team and made a valliant attempt to defend a low total.  I'm sure the batsmen will perform much better against a SA attack missing two of the best fast bowlers in the world.  2.2 seems very fair to me, having a nice lump.

Over 275 should be a safe bet 1st Innings score should they bat first.

Good luck all (with the exception of Kingsmax Wink)

To be fair, if it were India here they'd be chasing 334 rather than 234.

mainly on twitter mate.  Your point about suing is laughable.  You bet - you take the risk.  You should be well aware the fixing is rife in Cricket and other sports (for that matter).  Where there's money there's corruption.  Fact of life.  Wake up to it.

Surely it a far too obvious game for a fix, and as has been stated many times its not the match odds that the fixers target but the much easier and less obvious spot fixes. Pakistan just batted poorly, poorly planned chase, chasing in Eng on this pitch is never easy.

Misbah played a similar innings in the WC semi final.

He allowed the RRR to get to 8.5+ then plays some shots. Took the PP and did nothing blocking half volleys.

Looked like spot fixing to me. Should be investigated but won't be.
Report steview84 June 10, 2013 8:21 PM BST
imo its much easier to fix match odds.  somebody staking £10000 on a no ball raises a lot of suspicion.  £100k on match odds would be normality to a lot big hitting punters.

the lowest pakistan traded was 1.96!!! SAF were 202/6 with a couple of overs to go.

If you've spot-fixed, the best way of taking advantage is via the Match Odds market on here.

Say you've arranged a maiden over. Lay the batting team on here in the Match Odds market before the first ball of the over is bowled. Green out at the end of it.

Much better than betting a brackets market with an illegal Asian bookie, because:
1. It's indirect. You're not inviting suspicion you've directly fixed that particular market.
2. Even if the batsman with whom you've arranged the fix grasses you up and the Indian police start rounding up the usual suspects,, there won't be anybody among the Asian bookies to corroborate the allegation.
3. You're guaranteed to get paid out.
Report Lix June 11, 2013 9:00 AM BST
you talking about T20 here screamers?  you wont get paid much if
you back maiden in an ODI.
Report screaming from beneaththewaves June 11, 2013 9:27 AM BST
Depends what you mean by "much". One of the oddities of the Mervyn Westfield case was how little money it took to fix an over - a lousy 6 grand.

Sure, the example I gave of fixing a single maiden would be better suited to a T20 (though it would work just as effectively on here towards the end of a ODI chase, where prices are equally volatile).

But if you're going to block for 20 overs in a ODI, as happened in this match, then I think the Match Odds market here is a perfectly fine medium for taking advantage and covering your tracks.

(As it happens, I don't think that's what happened here; I think it's just a really lousy Pak batting line-up; and anyway, if they were at it, they'd want to give themselves a chance of reaching the semi-final and final, where there'd be further opportunities.)

Christ, it does your head in when you can't trust a sport.Sad
Report Injera June 11, 2013 5:37 PM BST
Later on in an ODI a maiden is pretty crucial, as is the intent shown or not shown during that over.

Misbah took the PP and then blocked the first 3 balls. He took a single off the 4th. The tone was set for the rest of the PP.

Only a few ticks needed for a big profit. With the RRR rising above 8s at that stage, it was clear the chase would fail.
