NZ batting performance was pretty awful and final innings performances are generally the worse one's ... Eng look a bit small @ 2:1 on but is probably a fair price given the opposition ... only thing that can save NZ is the rain ... but it may come to late on Monday .... this match is easily finished tomorrow ... and Eng have to be favourites to win it ...

what's the most NZ have chased in 4th innings in ENG ever?
I don't know the answer but it's probably already getting very tricky for NZ. Draw still possible if ENG dig in early doors tomorrow and hold out until mid-afternoon with rain forecast monday.

i agree nigel the only way i can see a draw is if Eng bat till mid afternoon, originally i was on Eng but now on the draw, looking like i got this test the wrong way round?

lets look at the scores, so far in this Test Match. England 232 all out, New Zealand 207 all out, England 180-6, England lead by 205 runs. In all honest a lead of 250 runs doesn't sound a lot, but if England could score another 40 runs more, a total of 250 to chase is going to be a lot of runs to get. If England get more than a lead of 250 runs, so 270-280 and England, will be hot, hot favourites and should win. Even if England only get 20 runs more, it will be a lead of 225 runs, will give England a very good chance of winning.

The Met Office forecast for Monday for Lords is getting worse with heavy rain in the morning and light rain showing at 1pm and cloudy by 4pm so IMHO its got to finish tomorrow
If the END tail can add maybe another 30 or 40 in decent time, chasing close to 250 would I think be too much for NZ and I think Swann will be the key
Ive got healthy green ENG and NZ and small green draw. Very tempted to switch it all to ENG but worried about NZ crawling to a hundred and odd for 4 at tea and draw frenzy kicking in

Forecast now much better hence the movement in the draw - might even get away with only 30 mins no play first thing monday:

actually reckon Draw being overreacted on here. Still a chance of rain monday and if it's not over today there's bound to be opportunities to lay at less than 12!

It looks like rain nearly all night and most of the morning then a break and then a couple of hours of rain in the afternoon. Allowing for pitch inspections covers on covers off etc that could take up most of the day even assuming things like no bad light or the rain isn't enough to water log the outfield etc.

now the BBC WEATHER for London tomorrow, is midnight overcast 4.00am Rain just missing North London, but obviously could reach North London, only has to be slightly wrong. 7.00am overcast 10.00am overcast 13.00 overcast 16.00 ditto the 4.00am forecast and 19.00 overcast, if those forecasts are to be believed a positive result is certain, even if the match goes well into tomorrow.

If they play well and get 300+ it'll probably take until 3pm. Draw looks likely then with rain forecast and fairly benign pitch.
If they only get 250 and out quickly their odds won't be much lower

Turn and bounce on this wicket for the spinners - Swann will be a handful in this second innings, especially with the rough
outside the righthanders off stumps created by the Kiwi lefty boelers.

I feel the prices are spot on Taylor and McCullum having a 2 hour stay at the crease, would improve NZ's chances of a win, as they will attack England's bowlers, but I reckon the prices are fair and about right. Lets see where we are, at the end of the England innings and see if the price has changed in anyone's particular favour.

Ye Gods, if England lose this match, they can expect a right going over from the people who run English Cricket (i.e. Sky Sports).

Well I have England, as slight favourites, so its 10/11 England (1.91) New Zealand 11/10 (2.1) so a lay of England or a back of New Zealand is the right bet, but of course a couple of early wickets and England will be down to 1/4

shouldnt get any rain today, spin looks likely to come in to play, i've topped up on the draw lay at start of play and think i'll just watch from now on, should be good

New Zealand are really not focusing here a ball pitching outside leg stump and as long as you are playing a shot can't be out lbw and he gets bowled WTF, when you only need to block and take a few runs every now and then you do this NZ what is your problem, not as bad as Fulton who should be dropped for what he did...... I can not believe what these guys are doing they are playing at balls they should be leaving this is an utter disgrace from NZ

Getting completely done on this match can not believe NZ have made these shot decisions when they set themselves up for a score that they had no need to go hard at

NZ need new players buthe quality is lacking, senior players need to pull there weight and not take it easy because they happen to play for NZ and no one can replace them, this is about the most disgraceful attempt at winning this match I have probable ever seen in Cricket, absolutely no need....somuch time and you go for these kid of shots, getting yourselves out for no reason at all, from nothing shots which would have achieved nothing

I wonder when the SS comms will apologise for lambasting England's 1st inns batting? OK, it wasn't good against Martin, but there was never any rush playing under lights.

disgraceful they played directly to the ENG field, didn't leave balls while ENG put all there fielders on the offside and in the Slip Cordon, NZ obliged by playing at balls wide of the off stump instead of waiting for the balls they could play to the open leg side and tire out ENG in the field, really utter rubbish from NZ

NZ have a lot to answer for this is so poor! Ok ENG have kept to there tactics but you can't say that is the reason for this NZ have completely allowed this to happen

NZ have lost a couple of wickets to poor shots, Englands Broad and Anderson have been brilliant. England got in a tight situation and they have destroyed the opposition in 1 hour.

Since the Pakistan debacle, followed by IPL issues, I look on matches like this with great suspicion.Spoilt it for me. May be a meritorious performance by England , but time might show it was not.

No I am not from NZ but I saw this match to pan out differently and am stating the facts that NZ have given away 5 of the 6 wickets themselves and think that at this level that deserves serious critic

I punt assuming no funny business, but frown a little when apparent stupid, inexplicable things happen. That having been said, if the NZ bowlers perform very well, its odds on our bowlers can do even better in England. So a collapse not totally surprising !

Look at the scores, before this innings 232, 207, 213, it doesn't take too much working out, that 239 was going to take an awful lot of getting. Broad got 26 not out and it is his day today.

Well that was an absolute drubbing England have given New Zealand, an absolute drubbing I hear you all say, well in a match, where just 720 runs were score a winning margin of 170 runs, is a very very large victory.

NZ absolutely gave that away cost me a small fortune, credit to ENG for holding the catches and keeping to there plan but this was a shameful contest allround really

All that fuss about bad weather and not a single over lost to rain. Only about 10 lost to bad light if I remember correctly. Bring on the forecast for the second Test.

don't talk about numbers when it comes down to losses but 4 figures, first the weather got meon draw and then I thought that NZ were value and they collapsed not much I can do I was wrong on this one, still annoying though

I made a modest profit, but piled most of my green on the draw before start of play, expecting this to go into day 5. Then 15 wickets in 30 0vers. Been a while since I saw that.

in interview with Cook after the match had finished on C5, he said the pitch wasnt too bad it was the overhead conditions that made batting very difficult..
were you listening guiness?

It was ridiculous but the signs were there:
day 1 - 4 wickets day 2 - 10 wickets day 3 - 12 wickets day 4 - 14 wickets

A great match for trading (not that I took advantage )
NZ were close to 20s Day One and then reached 30s on Saturday when Joe and Trott were batting.
The draw went odds on despite an improving forecast and sideways movement, and England were layable and backable at various points.
