Hobart missing X-man, Bailey and Styris.  Cutting not playing the ODI and Melbourne is pretty near Hobart
so maybe they'll allow him to play? if so this looks a bit more even than the current odds suggest.

No Perera for Brisbane also a big loss.

Birt and Shah need to show the form of last year as will be a pity if Hobart miss out with such a talented team, can go all the way in this tounament and well in the CLT20 (Top players would not play for a major IPL team - Ponting, Paine, Shah, Birt, Laughlin, Kretza and maybe even Bailey and Bollinger) so would like them to qualify

Brisbane can bang, and like their odds.  HH are the more talented on paper, but haven't been showing it.
Report T20man January 12, 2013 8:18 AM GMT
I like the Heat odds also. this is a 50/50 match IMO.
Tim Paine should already be back in the pavillion 3 or 4 times.
Riding his luck.

the question is whether that was an awful innings from Paine or whether this is a bit of a slow wicket. i'm leaning towards the former.

Paine and Birt gonski. Looks like the Hurricanes will have to settle
for a score of 140 to 150.
Report nicky27 January 12, 2013 8:44 AM GMT
that was some catch on the boundary , one handed , brilliant
Report nicky27 January 12, 2013 8:44 AM GMT
changed the momentum of the innings that
Report BJT January 12, 2013 8:49 AM GMT
The good thing is, if Ponting stays out there for a bit, we learn a hell of a lot about what the pitch is doing and what score he thinks is a winning total.
Report nicky27 January 12, 2013 8:51 AM GMT
no  boundary since the catch
Report BJT January 12, 2013 8:51 AM GMT
BF down?
Report BJT January 12, 2013 9:01 AM GMT
Fielding this over could be costly.  Looks about slow this pitch, and bad fielding could end up being the difference.
Report T20man January 12, 2013 9:18 AM GMT
150. Par score on this pitch I think.
Some strange tactics by both teams in that innings.
Nothing in this still.
Report BJT January 12, 2013 9:22 AM GMT
Interesting innings.  To finish off like that just turns the whole thinking about what the pitch is doing around.  Only 3 wickets down is the interesting thing, 1 mistimed, 1 beautiful catch on the boundary, and another catch in from the boundary.  Paine in filthy form, the other 2 could nearly consider themselves unlucky to get out.  Ponting was short, but Birt was 6 or out.  The way they finished scoring so easily, I just can't help to piece everything together and think that they come up short there.
No need to go over the fence, just hit through the field.  Wells suggests ball coming on a bit slow and 150 a good score, but he made 40 off 24 balls, so I don't think I take that into consideration too much.
A sensible approach and Heat make this easy.  It is certainly their game to lose, and I won't be anywhere near backing Hurricanes at 2.08.  Put them closer to 2.45 and think Brisbane win this with 5+ deliveries to spare.
Report rohit79 January 12, 2013 9:23 AM GMT
Pitch is slow, fancy Hobart to defend this with Laughlin, Kretza and Bollinger.
Report rohit79 January 12, 2013 9:24 AM GMT
Backin Hobart for now, Should be under evens IMO
Report rohit79 January 12, 2013 9:29 AM GMT
Wells innings hiding how slow this pitch was but he scored his runs of short bowling(Very easy on a slow pitch) with pull shots with the Fine Leg up and some full tosses, Shah hit a couple of smashing drives of half volleys but cant play on the up as seen by Paine and Shah struggling

May be proven wrong but bitten off quite a bit on Hobart here
Report T20man January 12, 2013 9:30 AM GMT
I'm sticking with my original bet on the Heat. They bat deep (Hartley at no. 8),
so if they cant chase this down they will have only themselves to blame.
I bet they are happy that O'Doherty isn't playing for the Hurricanes.

Good decision by the Heat to open with a proper batsman (Forrest) for a change,
instead of Hopes. Pommersbach can still use his usual aggressive approach.

go for the Hurricanes...LOL.

GSM. So we got the Renegades v Heat, and Scorchers v Stars in the semis.

It really was 50:50 at the break - can't be surprised really

Report BJT January 12, 2013 10:22 AM GMT
50/50 at the break?  An easy win like this is certainly not 50/50.  Going to win by 9 wickets with about 6 overs to go.
Report BJT January 12, 2013 10:26 AM GMT
Shah blocking 3 overs out, and Wells getting 40/24 was the key to this game.
Report BJT January 12, 2013 10:27 AM GMT
82/42.  Brilliant knock.
Report T20man January 12, 2013 10:29 AM GMT
This makes up for the Strikers loss the other nite. And I've got money on 2 teams
in the semis (Stars and Heat). So far so good.
Report T20man January 12, 2013 10:33 AM GMT
One of Hurricanes' big hitters (Blizzard) not even getting a bat didn't help them either.
But the Heat far too good tonight.
Report rohit79 January 12, 2013 10:44 AM GMT
Laughlin was their best bowler in the tournament and he bowled in the 8th over when the game was gone, absolutely ridiculous.

Shah dropped a simple slip catch andKretza bowled and fielded junk, 1st 4-5 boundries were all short balls which were the easy ones to score off.

Should not have been such a straight forward game, even if the pitch was not as slow as Hobart made it look

Time to forget this game and move on
