No Perera for Brisbane also a big loss.
Birt and Shah need to show the form of last year as will be a pity if Hobart miss out with such a talented team, can go all the way in this tounament and well in the CLT20 (Top players would not play for a major IPL team - Ponting, Paine, Shah, Birt, Laughlin, Kretza and maybe even Bailey and Bollinger) so would like them to qualify |

Brisbane can bang, and like their odds. HH are the more talented on paper, but haven't been showing it.

I like the Heat odds also. this is a 50/50 match IMO.
Tim Paine should already be back in the pavillion 3 or 4 times. Riding his luck. |

the question is whether that was an awful innings from Paine or whether this is a bit of a slow wicket. i'm leaning towards the former.

Paine and Birt gonski. Looks like the Hurricanes will have to settle
for a score of 140 to 150. |
|
By:
that was some catch on the boundary , one handed , brilliant

The good thing is, if Ponting stays out there for a bit, we learn a hell of a lot about what the pitch is doing and what score he thinks is a winning total.

no boundary since the catch

BF down?

Fielding this over could be costly. Looks about slow this pitch, and bad fielding could end up being the difference.
|
|
By:
150. Par score on this pitch I think.
Some strange tactics by both teams in that innings. Nothing in this still. |

Interesting innings. To finish off like that just turns the whole thinking about what the pitch is doing around. Only 3 wickets down is the interesting thing, 1 mistimed, 1 beautiful catch on the boundary, and another catch in from the boundary. Paine in filthy form, the other 2 could nearly consider themselves unlucky to get out. Ponting was short, but Birt was 6 or out. The way they finished scoring so easily, I just can't help to piece everything together and think that they come up short there.
No need to go over the fence, just hit through the field. Wells suggests ball coming on a bit slow and 150 a good score, but he made 40 off 24 balls, so I don't think I take that into consideration too much. A sensible approach and Heat make this easy. It is certainly their game to lose, and I won't be anywhere near backing Hurricanes at 2.08. Put them closer to 2.45 and think Brisbane win this with 5+ deliveries to spare. |

Pitch is slow, fancy Hobart to defend this with Laughlin, Kretza and Bollinger.
|
|
By:
Backin Hobart for now, Should be under evens IMO
|
|
By:
Wells innings hiding how slow this pitch was but he scored his runs of short bowling(Very easy on a slow pitch) with pull shots with the Fine Leg up and some full tosses, Shah hit a couple of smashing drives of half volleys but cant play on the up as seen by Paine and Shah struggling
May be proven wrong but bitten off quite a bit on Hobart here |
|
By:
I'm sticking with my original bet on the Heat. They bat deep (Hartley at no. 8),
so if they cant chase this down they will have only themselves to blame. I bet they are happy that O'Doherty isn't playing for the Hurricanes. |

Good decision by the Heat to open with a proper batsman (Forrest) for a change,
instead of Hopes. Pommersbach can still use his usual aggressive approach. |
