SA have to start going now though. Wouldnt want any more than 45 off of 18.

AB was the one who could get a couple of 18+ overs.

England's odds were also around 3 at this stage.

WTF has happened here WTF SA had this match, still wasn't crazy even after the big over, 10.8 for 11 overs this SA team just needed to keep above the run rate, damn so much money will be lost should have laid out

Amla's Summer Averages

Tests: 120.5
ODIs: 111.67
T20:  83(Dismal)

Englands odds probably never took into account the T20 knock of the summer

I'm just saying that they were struggling. SA needed some acceleration like England got, not just plug away.

I wasn't having a go Darlo, i just wondered if you used that to perceive where the value lied in the run chase.

I realise you can't compare a run-setting innings to a run-chasing innings, but the odds on England were double what they had been just before. England were struggling at that point, so while it wasn't impossible for South Africa to win, a comparison to a point where England were also struggling isn't a fair one.

this is a disgusting performance from SA absolute rubbish they need to Cull Parnell immediately, nothing really to special from England here they have just been handed it

Yes true, i sometimes think when a team is chasing that, it feels as though they need to do a little bit more, when in fact they arent far behind where the team batting first was.

I'm not sure the market ever really values a run chase correctly. I saw enough long odds come in during the IPL to be wary of that.

I made that mistake in the IPL once,i didnt make it again! There was some unbelievable chases in that this year.

Parnell's over is the only reason why they have lost this match simple as

1 over is quite a lot when there's only 11 especially when it was about as calamitous as possible. morkel gave away about 8 wides as well. hard to win when you do that

I don't know I left too much risk there could have just got out of this one easily with no worries, Parnell wow I hate his guts right now

Dado - you well warned to get out and minimise ur loss.  SA were never ever going to run down that total

I am such a moron to not have got out of this match, utterly ridiculous swing

That's the way gambling goes.  You win some you lose some.  Just need to make sure over time you are making not losing money.

Walk away, forget about it and rebuild or give it up.  That's my suggestion.  The losses always feel much worse than the wins.

And NEVER play with money you can't afford to lose.

Spot on advice. Build slow and get to a point your just playing with winnings. I aim for a small steady profit each day/week.
By:
nigelpm1
When: 12 Sep 12 22:42
Yep, that's how I've worked it over the past eight months.

Taken a few hefty hits - looked at where I went wrong and hope they don't happen again but overall have built a steady gain.

It's hard work though but very enjoyable.

Exactly. Learn from mistakes,  and set rules for yourself.
