Starts on Friday morning.

Current
SL 4.6
Pak 6.4
Draw 1.53 Shocked

Wish I hadn't laid the draw at 1.9 yesterday Sad Presuming the bad weather in the one day series is striking fear in the market - anyone actually in Galle?

Don't think Pakistan should be the dogs here - even with Misbah suspended for being a bad over-rate boy. Their recent test record is far superior to Lanka. Punters still thinking Murali will be playing?

at what point would SL declare?  Any thoughts on this based on past history etc..  It seems their best chance of winning given there is likely to be be some disruption to play (albeit not as much as first thought) unless PAK collapse twice or follow on
Report Taxed2Death June 22, 2012 12:17 PM BST
Surely there wont be time to declare if there is going to be 3 days lost as stated in your previous post/ramp?

nigels draw ramp in tatters!
Report aljohnson June 23, 2012 1:05 PM BST
In fairness to Nigel imo he wasn't ramping the draw. He was just a bit green about the weather forecasts for Galle.
Report nigelpm1 June 23, 2012 1:07 PM BST
that's cricket for you.  Yeah, weather forecasts clearly mean nothing here.
Report nigelpm1 June 23, 2012 1:11 PM BST
game has completely flipped with a few wickets
Report nigelpm1 June 23, 2012 1:13 PM BST
follow on likely to be forced - could be wrapped up tomorrow - lol
Report nigelpm1 June 23, 2012 1:13 PM BST
alternatively, PAK could still score another 250 and game could end in a draw - totally unpredictable like the weather here - lol
Report Lix June 23, 2012 1:45 PM BST
Pak's batting is pretty weak at the best of times and pretty shocking here without Misbah.
Report cnman June 23, 2012 4:15 PM BST
anyone think Lanka are pretty short here at 1.23? Pakistan v SL matches in all formats are unpredictable at the best of time and I'd guess there's still a chance of some rain (I have really no idea about the rain to be honest). Even so, Pakistan showed fight with the bat in the series v England and can be obdurate when they need to be
Report nigelpm1 June 23, 2012 6:32 PM BST
In a word no - I actually think they are too long!  PAK need 220 runs to avoid the follow on - this could be the key but I just can't see them doing it.

Forget the rain - it dries so quick there and they can play on 45 mins to complete overs that it shouldn't knock too many out.

Total turn around in my thinking but the rain fooled me.
Report Captain Wurzel June 23, 2012 6:54 PM BST
Unless there is a lot of rain sri lanka will win easily here. Galle is a result wicket. Draw is a pure weather bet, this isn't the first time that large amounts of predicted rain have failed to appear at Galle. Pakistan batting lineup definitely one of the weakest in test cricket particularly without Misbah.
Report nigelpm1 June 23, 2012 6:57 PM BST
indeed, will be looking out for any time in the future that the draw goes low here
Report Captain Wurzel June 23, 2012 7:02 PM BST
There have been games washed out here - but you can't put any trust in forecast rain. One things for sure - the day I decide to ignore the threat of rain and lay the draw noah will be in businessLaugh
Report RockMonkey June 24, 2012 7:52 AM BST
Cricinfo says not enforcing follow on! They must have a lot of faith in local weather.
Report betfire June 24, 2012 7:56 AM BST
srilanka bat means, its train to a draw
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 8:00 AM BST
what on earth are they doing?
Report betfire June 24, 2012 8:03 AM BST
they may look to score another 130 n set a target of 500....
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 8:04 AM BST
but why? surely, they could bail them out very quickly and not need to bat at all.
Report betfire June 24, 2012 8:09 AM BST
they might fear batting last on this wkt n hence want to bat pak out....very defensive approach this
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 8:11 AM BST
almost insane I'd argue and wonder which bookie put them up to it - no further bets for me ever with these two sides involved - far too dangerous!
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 8:12 AM BST
hope the ICC look at it - definitely match fixing for my money
Report betfire June 24, 2012 8:13 AM BST
gud for me thou as im on draw here.... :)
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 8:14 AM BST
still won't be a draw unless there's a lot of rain
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 8:14 AM BST

Report betfire June 24, 2012 8:17 AM BST
there were similar cases before but when there was no rain expected
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 8:19 AM BST
I think the follow on should be required - also all betting patterns in Asian should be watched by a dedicated person and anything odd picked up
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 8:20 AM BST
makes me want to leave betting on cricket - just too risky
Report betfire June 24, 2012 8:21 AM BST
yes it is...u cud green out now if u r lanka??
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 8:23 AM BST
already done betfire - no more bets for me - all done
Report dougydougy. June 24, 2012 8:24 AM BST
you can't force teams to take the follow on, it's their well earned advantage to have the right to choose

teams batting 4th have got a pretty horrendous record chasing any total in Galle so i suppose you could argue that sl would not even want to be chasing a target of 80+ in the 4th innings against this pak attack on this pitch.

That said it is still a completely retarded decision. could rain all day tomorrow leaving sl just one day to knock over pakistan, baffling captaincy given the fact they had pakistan down and out. Probably deserve to not get over the line here, but it's still unlikely to cost them.

Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 8:33 AM BST

Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 8:59 AM BST
no bet for me - too much like gambling until it's started but I'd favour WI - all depends on Gayle IMHO - if he hammers the sixes ENG have no chance
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 9:00 AM BST
PS - apologies for the earlier rants - my emotions got over-heated!
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 9:11 AM BST
so what's the betting here on declaration.  I'd want PAK to face at least 10 overs late on.
Report nicky27 June 24, 2012 9:23 AM BST
just got up ...cant believe sri lanka didn't enforce ??
especially with a first innings lead of 372 Grin
I know they wouldn't want to chase anything batting last here , but Pakistan weren't getting anything over 372 ??
innings defeat thrown away ...
now they have the dilemma of when to declare and the added danger that rain could delay their push for victory ...like dough says ,probably will win anyway , but as a lanka backer it's a crazy decision  Crazy
Report nicky27 June 24, 2012 9:23 AM BST
*dougy
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 9:25 AM BST
their batting at least is like they are playing a 50 over match
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 9:27 AM BST
other argument being trotted out is it's good for the crowd/gate receipts - which is definitely true
Report RockMonkey June 24, 2012 9:34 AM BST
In a sanely run cricket world, ie without the BCCI, this test would surely be the final nail in the anti-DRS coffin? Pakistan getting royally skrewed at the moment.
Report RockMonkey June 24, 2012 9:36 AM BST
Also there should be a disciplinary procedure whereby if it can be clearly proved a batsman didn't walk he when he should have, as Dilshan has just done, (& made out he didn't hit it to the fielders!) is banned for the next game.
Report RockMonkey June 24, 2012 9:37 AM BST

Report dougydougy. June 24, 2012 9:37 AM BST

Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 9:38 AM BST
agreed dougy - some utterly shocking decisions.  is there a list of where DRS is in use?
Report dougydougy. June 24, 2012 9:42 AM BST
There were rumours before today rock that pakistan would join India and possibly SL and bangladesh and vote against making DRS mandetory in all tests at the ICC meeting. I can not after this test match see how they could possibly vote against it now.

what sort of total do we think sri lanka will declare this innings ??
or will it be a matter of whatever they have at a certain time >?
Report nigelpm1 June 24, 2012 9:47 AM BST
i reckon they'll want to put PAK in for 10 overs at the end of the day so my guess would be they play another 25 minimum.  somewhere around 200 runs.
